Attraction refurbishments are a common practice in theme parks, occurring as often as every year for certain attractions. However, when two original Disneyland park attractions are closing to undergo refurbishment, people tend to take notice.
On January 8, the Main Street, USA horse-drawn streetcar track is set to be replaced in its entirety temporarily pausing the use of all Main Street, USA vehicles. Dumbo the Flying Elephant will also close in preparation for a new queue location.
Pieces of the Main Street, USA track have been replaced in the past but this refurbishment will incorporate new brickwork that will enhance the iconic attraction’s look. The pieces of the original track that remain today will be salvaged and preserved.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant will receive a fresh coat of paint in addition to a new shade structure and queue location.
The Main Street, USA vehicles and Dumbo the Flying Elephant will resume operation in late winter and early spring, respectively.
