“Black Panther” breaks Marvel pre-sale record for first 24 hours

People are clearly very excited to see the king of Wakanda once again grace the big screen. In fact, pre-sales for “Black Panther” have broken Marvel’s previous record for its first 24 hours.

Advanced ticket sales for “Black Panther” began Monday and movie ticket site Fandango has reported that it has sold more tickets in its first 24 hours of pre-sale than “Captain America: Civil War” did in that same span.

Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther character was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in “Captain America: Civil War,” so it is a bit poetic that his solo movie would break the record. It does come as a surprise though when you consider the star power of “Civil War,” which featured Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and many more.

“’Black Panther’ is riding an incredible wave of momentum right now,” Fandango Editor Erik Davis said in a statement. “It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated movies to ever open in the month of February, and its trailers have electrified the Internet.”

You can find out what all the hype is about when “Black Panther” hits theaters February 16.
