2018 is set to be a big year filled with incredible blockbuster films. Disney, Universal and Warner Bros. are just a few of the studios with highly-anticipated movies on the schedule for this year.
Of course, in the theme park world, we’re always looking toward the future and with all of these exciting movies coming to theaters this year, we have to ask: which of these movies will we see in our favorite parks in the future?
There is certainly no shortage of source material for great future theme park attractions. He are some 2018 movies we might see in theme parks in the future:
Rampage
Warner Bros’ upcoming action blockbuster based on the 1980’s video game is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. This movie will feature giant monsters destroying a city while The Rock tries to stop them. What more could you want? Sounds to me like this could make for a very interesting screen-based ride or, at the very least, a Six Flags roller coaster.
“Rampage” will hit theaters April 20.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Disney certainly has a lot to choose from with their impressive lineup of 2018 movies. It would certainly not be surprising to see pieces of “Solo: A Star Wars Story” in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Perhaps some aspects of the Millennium Falcon ride will be inspired by the movie.
“Solo: A Star Wars Story” will hit theaters May 25.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
This one is a no-brainer for Universal Studios. With Jurassic Park-themed lands and attractions already in place in their parks, it seems very likely that we will see the next installment in the franchise make its way to the parks in some way.
“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” will hit theaters June 22.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Many Marvel characters have already popped up in both Disney and Universal theme parks. Unfortunately, Ant-Man is not one of them. I wouldn’t expect a big, E-ticket attraction based on the upcoming “Ant-Man” sequel, but Ant-Man and Wasp meet and greets would not surprise me.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp” will hit theaters July 6.
The Predator
We have seen the Predator at Universal Studios before as part of Halloween Horror Nights. With another horrifying chapter of the sci-fi franchise coming to theaters this year, it would make sense to bring the killing machine back to the event.
“The Predator” will hit theaters August 3.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
Another no-brainer for Universal. With the incredible popularity of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it stands to reason that we will eventually see some sort “Fantastic Beasts” presence in the parks. Whether it’s a new attraction of something more subtle, I think this is a safe bet.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” will hit theaters November 16.
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2
“Wreck-It Ralph” was an instant hit in 2012 and the sequel is sure to draw a crowd. It would make sense for Disney to take advantage of the film’s popularity and finally give us an attraction based on the video game-focused movie. A Sugar Rush-themed ride could be a cool experience.
“Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” will hit theaters November 21.
