5. Ghostwood Estate
Ghostwood Estate materialized at Pennsylvania’s Kennywood theme park in 2008. This dark attraction is similar to Boo Blasters, in that this creepy cool collection of spooky scenes contains features that come to life when a target is lit up from the rider’s laser gun.
6. Haunted Cottage
Haunted Cottage, the world’s oldest haunted attraction, built in 1915, was moved to Hollycombe Steam in the Country in 1991. The venerable walk through attraction is part of the steam-powered collection of classic rides from a bye-gone era that make up the unique British theme park.
7. Knoebels Haunted Mansion
Opened in 1973, this ever evolving, eerie attraction retains the thrill of creepy carnival rides. The track driven, dark ride calls Knoebels Amusement Resort, in Elysburg, PA, home.
The second of two haunting experiences at the Netherlands’ Efteling amusement park, Spookslot is an intensely frightening adventure billed as being too scary for small children. From the walk through to the main chamber to the creepy castle coming to life, Spookslot is an attraction that would warm the cold heart of any haunt fan!
9. Tower of Terror
The Hollywood Tower Hotel first appeared at the end of Sunset Strip at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The fly-out-of-your-seat sensation soon spread to California (now a Marvel themed “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction) and can also be found at Tokyo DisneySea and Walt Disney Studios park in France.
Halloween doesn’t have to be restricted to September and October. Visiting any of these 9 dark amusements can carry the spirit of the spooky season any time of the year.
