“The Jetsons” live-action sitcom announced for ABC, Robert Zemeckis producing

The Jetsons family and their dog soaring through the sky in their iconic green spaceship with a glass dome, all beaming with excitement, just like you’d see them come to life at a futuristic theme park attraction.

Get ready to meet George Jetson all over again.

ABC has ordered a live-action reboot of the show, Entertainment Weekly confirms. Based on the classic Hanna-Barbera characters, the muti-cam sitcom will be set 100 years in the future.

The pilot comes from writer Gary Janetti (Family Guy, Will & Grace), who will executive produce with Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump), Jack Rapke, and co-executive producer Jackie Levine.

The Jetsons family and their dog soar above a dazzling, futuristic city in their iconic flying car at The Jetsons attraction, surrounded by the show’s retro-futuristic visuals. The classic series logo floats beneath them, setting the scene for fans to immerse themselves in a live-action experience inspired by the beloved sitcom.

The original “Jetsons” series aired on ABC from 1962 – 1963.
