The obvious draw of Universal Orlando’s new water theme park is the incredible attractions, but the creative team behind Volcano Bay believes that its food is the “exclamation point” to the park experience. With over 60 food offerings, themed to fit the park’s backstory of the Waturi islanders, Volcano Bay’s menus feature entrées, snacks and drinks that are a step above the standard water park.
WATCH FOOD OF VOLCANO BAY:
Back in April we provided you with an early preview of the food offerings of Volcano Bay. Now we are giving you a look at the six restaurants and bars inside the incredible new water park.
KOHOLA REEF RESTAURANT & SOCIAL CLUB
This open-air restaurant sits at the foot of the Krakatau volcano and has a varied menu that features BBQ, burgers, chicken, seafood, pizza and desserts. Some of the park’s signature items like the Mango BBQ Pulled Pork and Coconut Crusted Fried Chicken can be located here.
DANCING DRAGONS BOAT BAR
This relaxing bar sits in the sand as an old outrigger canoe with colorful sails. Serving up some creative cocktails and frozen drinks, this location should prove to be popular with adults seeking an oasis in a busy water park.
WHAKAWAIWAI EATS
Sitting along the river bank, this little quick-service has a selection of pizzas, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese and salads on its menu. While maintaining its status of convenient in location as well as food options, this eatery still manages to give its fast food items a bit of polynesian flare with the addition of pineapple, salsa and shrimp to many of its items.
BAMBU
With a name that reflects its construction material, this location offers a shady retreat from the heat of Volcano Bay. More quick service options like sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and salads make up the menu, but the options showcase a little personality with items that have a special twist. Examples would be the Bambu Cheeseburger that uses an avocado mayonnaise to delight tastebuds and the Reka Burger that is served on a King’s Hawaiian Roll.
THE FEASTING FROG
Patio seating, surrounding a frog-shaped structure, allows guests to continue enjoying the tropical breezes of Volcano Bay; however, a menu that offers a variety of taco options is the primary draw for this amphibious food location. Steak, shrimp and chicken tacos as well as an ahi tuna bowl are delicious.
KUNUKU BOAT BAR
Another outrigger canoe transformed into bar, the Kunuku Boat Bar serves as a perfect spot for picking up beverages of any kind from specialty cocktails to fountain sodas. Taking its name from the magical fish that led the Waturi islanders to Volcano Bay in the first place, this spot is one location where it is acceptable to “drink like a fish.”
