Groot the walking, talking tree (species name Floral Colossus) was one of the numerous breakout stars from the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, and his origins lie deep within 1960s Marvel mythology. And now that Groot has reverted back to infant form for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” we can expect the character’s popularity to skyrocket even further.
In the new promo below from official Disney fan club D23, “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Zoe Saldana (Gamora) reads the entirety of the new children’s book “Night Night, Groot” by Brednan Deneen and Cale Atkinson.

Appearing in the book are a number of superhero characters whom Groot has yet to meet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Captain America, The Hulk, and even Moon Knight.
“Night Night, Groot” is available now. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” opens next Friday, May 5th in theaters nationwide.
