It’s sad to see a tradition go, but … times change, tastes change, sensibilities change. It seems like RBBnB was too slow to do so. There are still ‘circuses’… Cirque du Soleil and similar… that are still seeing strong attendance. I do feel that the animal issues were a large part of the problem with Ringling Bros. but it’s also the fact that no one wants to go sit in a hot tent in a field anymore. We don’t really have vaudeville productions anymore either, or hell, public hangings (they used to be a big deal, you know!) Anyway, they seem to have a pretty diverse portfolio without the circus, so the company isn’t going anywhere. I do feel bad for the performers, though; it’s hard to find work anymore if you’re a member of the creative field. The US doesn’t have too many openings for tightrope walkers or performance riders any longer.
I’m really sad Ringling Brothers is ending ! No video game or special effects movie can ever replace the excitement that comes with seein real people and real animals perform. I loved the circus ad a child and still do. It’s a legendary unforgetable part of history I will never forget. Thanks Ringling Brotherd for the greatest show in earth! Let the critics carry on and the nay Sayers whine about the circus being out of sync. How wrong they are. The world will look back and wish they could enjoy another performance and a movie should be made about the circus to preserve the memory.
