Confused…Florida already gets this free right? I mean I have gone on the site and got fast passes for free. HELP

Florida WDW gets to use the Magic Band technology, because they have enough resorts, restaurants, shops, waterparks, etc. to make it worthwhile.
Anaheim DLR doesn’t have enough park or resort to roll out their own separate Magic Band, so the only way they could do “Online FP reservations” was on a cellphone….And they have to CHARGE for it, to make up the difference.

No way they HAVE to do this. It’s simply a means of monetizing something they know people will surely pay for on a regular basis.

Disney has the only upward sloping demand curve I’ve ever seen in all my years of studying economics.

Although I can afford this service, at least at the “introductory” price of $10 per person (plus the cost of Wi-Fi as an international visitor), I don’t think this is a step in the right direction.
I don’t think Disney theme park guests should be divided into two categories of “haves” and “have nots”. Sure, some experiences will always come at an additional cost, like the various guided tours. But, things like convenient utilisation of Fast Passes and comfortable rest areas with seating and shade, should be available to everyone.
One of the best aspects of the Disney theme parks is that all guests were treated equally. You paid the ticket price and then you had just as much of a chance of enjoying the attractions and entertainment as anyone else (subject to individual planning of course).

    1. They’ve been divided into “haves” and “have nots” since the very beginning with the classic ticket classes for different rides. This isn’t anything new. Yes, it’s sad, but it’s always been their way.
