It was announced earlier this month that DuckTales would be returning to the small screen on Disney XD next summer, but the full cast for the upcoming series was just revealed today.

The name that is drawing the most attention is that of Dr. Who actor David Tennant, who has been cast as the central character, Scrooge McDuck. Alongside him will be Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan, playing his grand-nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Launchpad McQuack, the lovable pilot will be voiced by Beck Bennett. And Mrs. Beakley and Webby Vanderquack will be done by Toks Olagundoye and Kate Micucci, respectively.

Donald Duck, Flintheart Glomgold, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Gizmoduck, and many of the other characters will also still be a part of the entertaining series, so there is no need to worry about some of those beloved characters being dropped.

I’m sure Tennant can do a good Alan Young/Bill Thompson Scrooge voice (they say that McDuck sent his own nephew to Azkaban prison!…)
But the stunt-casting still makes me hope they’re not going to go the 00’s “hipster” route that the BBC did with their Danger Mouse reboot–The animation style, not to mention XD’s whole channel identity, already has me worried.
