According to E Online the original Mary Poppins and Bert, Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, are in talks to appear in the new Mary Poppins sequel ‘Mary Poppins Returns‘.
The sequel will be directed by Rob Marshall and star Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. It will of course have the same musical elements as the original as well. Further details about Andrews and Van Dyke’s possible appearance in the movie are so far unknown but that is usually the case when it comes to Hollywood negotiations.
The original “Mary Poppins” movie came out in 1964 and was a huge hit with audiences. It also won five Oscars.
Meryl Streep is also in talks to join the cast as Mary Poppins’ cousin Topsy, as first reported last week.
Disney has set “Mary Poppins Returns” for a Christmas 2018 release.
