Maybe I’ve been spoiled by Europa Park and Phantasialand, but I think Sapphire Falls looks horrid.
The buildings look like cheap Spanish resort hotels and theming-wise it looks very bland and generic. The article mentions it is immersive and is highly-themed, but honestly, it really isn’t…
THIS is immersive: http://s3-media2.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/A1FkgqEpibWVQxxJD-Tcxw/o.jpg (Hotel Colosseo)
THIS is well themed: https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/04/a7/76/da/hotel-village-matamba.jpg (Hotel Matamba)
The rooms are a masterclass in mediocrity. The furniture looks like it’s from IKEA, not the Caribbean. The décor looks like an airport hotel, not the Caribbean. It just looks like every other boring hotel in the world.
At least Cabana Bay others honest accommodation and doesn’t position itself as premium accommodation. Nothing about Sapphire Falls looks to justify the cost. I hope at least the bars and restaurants make up for the identikit architecture, lobby, pool area and rooms, because at least then it will add at least some value to the resort rather than appearing to just be a quick fix for Universal’s hotel capacity problem.
I’m such a huge fan of Universal and pretty much everything they have touched lately has turned to gold, but to say this hotel is immersive or highly themed is an exaggeration at best, and misleading at worst. It looks about as exciting as tofu.
