Comments for Review: Disney Magic Kingdoms mobile game brings the world of virtual Disney theme park building with extra pixie dust

Just started on it, and it’s sort of a mix of Rollercoaster Tycoon with Marvel Avengers Academy–
The mix of theme-park profit collection with sending the characters on story quests to acquire tokens needed to open up more characters and level-ups.

Lots of characters to unlock, though, so I’m giving it a shot to see where the story goes.

I can’t find it in the Android store. Saw on a computer it’s available in Itunes but Android, on a computer, says “Coming Soon.” Any idea on the release date for non IOS devices?

  3. Greg

Kind of disappointed, as it feels like it is really aimed at the under 13 crowd. And maybe it is, but that makes it kind of unappealing for adults after about 2 or 3 hours.

I think this is actually a Gameloft title and not a Disney Interactive one.

    1. I agree.

    2. Actually the game seemed interesting to begin with, but as you play it you realize, it is nothing but a money grab exploiting loyal Disney fans. Obviously Gameloft paid the rights to Disney to use their copyrighted material in the development, and launch of this game. If a player wants to progress at any reasonable speed, they must buy Gems, which are expensive. Why they can not just sell the game, and have levels of completion, that open more areas and options lets you this is a continual money grab. 3000 gems, which really just gets you started cost $99.00. To buy lesser volumes of gems, is just wasting your time and money. It is truly sad Disney has allowed companies to exploit their loyal fan base like this.

      1. I totally agree but it happens in all games not just this one

So how much can you actually play without paying for it? Can you eventually earn enough to have fun with it without paying or will you ultimately have to buy something?

    1. EricJ

Like most in-app purchase games, you can wait for the next-day’s power-ups, or be greedy and impulsive and get them now for $2-5. Most games are optional, and the daily casual player has no problem with them.
Some might fly a “Buy this exclusive character today only!” special, but that won’t affect the game.

    2. Joe it depends on how fast you want to go but most games you will eventually want to purchase I don’t think this is fair to the kids or elderly they don’t have money to do this stuff

How do I upgrade Mickey to level 2 without paying? I’m up to building the philharmonic but can’t do this until Mickey is level 2.

    1. Cheryll

Tap the castle, then find Mickey in the line-up of characters. The things you need to upgrade him are on the left. If everything has a green check, feel free to upgrade!

    2. You shouldn’t have to pay to upgrade Mickey I have him up already just go in the book tap on Mickey then it will show you what you need I did need that building to upgrade him to level 2

What action do you do to make woody enjoy his day on the job

    1. Jacqueline

Woody only pulls string and lassos

  8. Candice

I cannot get the game to allow both of my kids to use it at the same time on their iPads. It will make the first kid shut down the app once the second kid starts up. Is there a way around this so they aren’t linked to the same Game Center account?

  9. Jacqueline

I’m not too happy with this game. Get boring after the first10 mins. You can’t do anything until Mickey is Level two, Goofy doesn’t do anything… At least I don’t see what he does, and woody just pulls strings and lasso. I’m not enjoying it. I don’t know how to get friends without using my FB friends. Just not feeling this game. Can someone help me? I may be doing something wrong!! Lol

    1. Goofy does do things. I’ve had him ride Ferris wheel.hang out at home with Mickey
Make Pete a sandwiche .Run and hide from news and more

  10. Carol

How do I defeat the trouble maker Pete?

  11. Doc

What are those songs that are used sort of on a loop? My kids love them, and i want to do a list (I recognize the one Toy Story song). Thank you in advance!

    1. Keith

When you’re in the app, you can go to the settings at the top right of the screen, then tap “About”. Scroll to almost the bottom and it tells you the titles of all the songs in the game and the artist who composed it.

  12. I’m really getting into the game so far only thing is should be more kids running around it says I have like 96,000 kids but just a few is seen I mean I know u can’t put a whole lot but at least little more so u can watch them cause I think it’s so cute how they react and run around with the hats on when coming out the stores so funny thank u other then that love it

    1. allieeleblanc

If it says 96, 000 that means that’s the total amount of kids that have visited your park.. Not how many are at your park right them . Click on the number or smiley face & it’ll show you that’s the total amount..

I’m having a bit of trouble, I’ve been playing for three days now and none of the kids in my park are wishing for anything. I’ve seen the thought bubbles and have granted the two that I’ve seen, but there have not been any for two days now even when I give merlin the task to collect happiness. Can anyone help me?

    1. Robin

I have the same problem. No thought bubbles for days and that makes my Happiness go down. It went from 89% to 35% already!!!

      1. allieeleblanc

Happiness goes down really fast automatically.. Sometimes I’ll get it to 98% & the 4th level of happiness, (so max happiness) then when I go back on it’ll be at 88% but the 3rd level of happiness..
(There’s different levels.. Click of the smiley face then a screen will pop up & it’ll have 4 smiley faces in a circle.. The half smile is level 1, the big closed mouth smile is level 2, the mouth half open smile is level 3 then the mouth wide open smile is level 4)…

      2. allieeleblanc

Disney Magic Kingdoms is a reeally fun game ! When I first tried it I wasn’t really into it at all.. But my sister played it all the time & she loved it ! (She’s even older than me..) So she asked if I just wasn’t all that into it & I realized I never really gave it a try.. So I redownloaded it & gave it another go & this time I actually stuck to it & sure the very beginning may be slow at times & some quests may take a lot longer than they should but all in all if you stick to it soon enough you’ll have a decent amount of characters unlocked & quests to do 🙂

I don’t understand why it is being compared to Roller Coaster Tycoon. It has been many years since I played RCT, but the element of that set that game apart from all others of it’s kind is the ability to design and ride each of the rides in the game.

You can’t do that with Disney Magic Kingdoms.

    1. allieeleblanc

Agreed & with Roller Coaster Tycoon you got to hire maintanence & put garbage cans & clean up puke & literally design exactly how you want the roller coaster ! Plus it was just alot more grown up of a game then Disney Magic Kingdoms.. (Meaning it had a lot more to it..)
But I do enjoy Disney Magic Kingdoms..
But Roller Coaster Tycoon was the sh*t !

Hey everyone, I made a new group on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1684476301791945/?ref=ts&fref=ts

Don’t bother if you have an android. As you progress through the game the bugs become more pronounced, to the point of not being able to move anything. Frustration at it’s worst!
Very fun to start! Just not so much later.

  17. I can’t figure out under tinker bell how to do the hollow to get what she needs to level up I don’t have the other cha tere yet can you help please

  18. brian

I think it would be cool if you can go inside your buildings that you have on your land that you have decursed
