      The deal is closed, done, Universal has bought the land… Universal Studios Orlando is still very much open

    That’s funny they bought that land then sold it an now they are buying it back

      The history is complicated. They sold it when Vivendi owned Universal. At that time Vivendi was cash strapped and there was a housing boom.

      Since then they have been purchased by GE and then sold to Comcast. Comcast has very deep pockets with annual revenues higher than Disney. Comcast has also been very willing to spend money in a way that Vivendi was never willing to do.

      After Universal was put in a much more stable financial position, they very much regretted selling the land.

      They also have attempted to purchase the Doctor Phillips school next door to them in the past with offers to relocate it. That was their first thought on expansion back in 1999-2000.
