I wish they would leave everything alone. They are changing to much to fast!! I hate that they are removing things that have always been there. It seems like they are making it less for kids and more entertaining for adults.
they are making room for Star Wars Land. I read the American idol theater will be torn down too. A Star Wars themed area based on the newest movies is the plan for that area all the way back to Star Tours.
that is something that has circulated rumors but is nowhere near confirmed. the hat was an eyesore, that much is true, but it makes no sense at all to remove it to create a land for a film that no one even knows will be more than moderately successful, regardless of the brand name.

New rehab, yes; “Room for Star Wars”, sit down, fanboy–
The park wants to theme the central section more to vintage Hollywood, which means the Great Movie Grauman’s is now back in its old place as the thematic hub weenie, hence the doffing of the Hat.
What they do at the REST of the park is yet to be announced, but they have ideas.
I have all my old ’01-’07 Disney photos (hadn’t been back till last year) on my computer as rotating wallpaper, and as I looked at a Hollywood Blvd. shot, with the Hat at the end of the street, as I read the article, I realized how many of my old 00’s snapshots were archiving things we’d never see again…
It is kinda sad to see the beloved hat get torn down. We all knew it was just temporary, and it stayed longer than soupossed. But now what will be the main frame. Hats gone. You could only see the water tower from the Backlot Tour but that’s gone too. What will it be?
That’s too bad. I always liked the hat, but then again I’be always had a thing for Fantasia. My son will be devastated since he recently took a huge liking to Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey.
I’ll truly miss the mickeys hat cause of the fact that Fantasia was and always will be my favorite Disney movie in my book no other movie could replace it regardless if all the other movies are great!!

What will replace the sorcerer Mickey hat in Hollywood Studios? And why was it removed?!
Michel Lichand
Nothing.
And because it was an eyesore.
Stadalberts
I sure hope you are correct. That thing was an eye sore from day one, much like the headstones at the entrance to Epcot. When will those go?
Sean
You must be joking it look really good

Well, it was, but it was removed because they WANT Old Hollywood to be the new theme of the park, on its upcoming rehab over the next few years.
