Without a doubt the Adventurers Club.
I am sad my daughter will never get to here the sound of 500 1lb pigeons tap dancing – or the sound of 1 500lb pigeon tap dancing.
– Kongaloosh
My favorite ride was probably the Snow White’s Scary Adventures ride as i remember going on it when i was a kid but not very clearly and then to find it closed when i go back it being close it was very saddening. But hey we gotta make room for newer and bigger things! Can’t wait to see the future of the Disney Parks!
One of my favorite extinct attractions was actually Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, Play It! I enjoyed being in the crowd and feeling like I was really on the show!
I miss mickeys toon town fair in the magic kingdom! The magic of meeting mickey in the town square theater isn’t the same as going to his house to meet him!
I miss Disneyland’s PeopleMover. It gave the Tomorrowland section of the park a sense of constant motion and activity. Plus it was a great scenic tour.
My favorite extinct Disney attraction is the original Journey Into Imagination. It was such an amazing concept and somehow managed to portray the incredibly abstract idea of imagination in a coherent and visually stunning way. The design work was impeccable and showed off everything that Imagineering was best at, the music was perfection, and the characters of Dreamfinder and Figment were some of the best created by Disney for a park, movie, or anything. The newer versions of the attraction just don’t hold a candle to the original and I hope that the attraction gets back on track sometime in the near future.
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: Submarine Voyage! I remember riding it on my first trip to Walt Disney World, and was devestated when I found out it was gone on my next trip. Wish I could have attended the event, but it was way out of my price range. Hope to win! 🙂
Ok so I may have entered but saw this again and now think I’m gonna miss the Hollywood studios hat. That was iconic to me seeing as I only first went about 10 years ago. Will be missed but will look pretty awesome with the Chinese theatre down Hollywood blvd!
Maelstrom is easily number one. Then it would have to be the backlot tour both were the best parts of the original parks before all the change and what each one was about. The different cultures of the world. Then the back stage of Hollywood movie sets.
I’ve got a couple of favorite extinct attractions, If You Had Wings because I grew up in an airline family and with Eastern Airlines sponsoring it, I thought it was the coolest ride in the world. The other is 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. That sub seemed SO REAL! An honorable mention would have to be Mickey Mouse Review.
Oddly enough, the Skyway! It was old fashioned, but gave unique views & perspectives on MK, not to mention get across half the park while relaxing and enjoying the view! Would have loved to watch the fireworks from it, if it was permitted.
My favorite extinct Disney attraction would be Alien Encounter @ Magic Kingdom. This ride offered a level of fear & fun for my brothers and I as kids. We were not pleased with the more-child friendly makeover, even though Stitch is a great character!
Disneyland – The Main Street Electrical Parade, America Sings, Disney Afternoon Avenue and Disney Afternoon – Live!, Fantasyland Theatre (Beauty and the Beast, Snow White), Country Bear Jamboree, Golden Horseshoe Revue, The “Pirate Coin Stamper” and the Pieces of Eight Shop, and most of all Goofy’s Bounce House.
My kids and I miss Maelstrom!! We were lucky enough to ride it the weekend before it closed!! I realize this only says one extinct attraction but me and my kids will also miss The Back lot Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios bcz it gave people a chance to see real movie props and behind the scenes!!!
20,000 leagues bc every single time I ever went (every few months) my entire childhood it was broken or closed for refurb until it finally went away for good and I’ve always been totally infatuated with it!!
The one that I miss the most is Horizons. My mother and I rode through it many times in our 15 visits to WDW together, and she always loved the scent of orange at the orange grove scene. She would always say that she wished she could find air freshener for the house that smelled like that. I lost mom to cancer 4 years ago now, and just returned to WDW for the first time since her passing this past November. I was so surprised to ride Soaring and smell that wonderful memory of the orange grove again. Not only did I know I was back at Disney after many years, but I also for a brief time felt like I was back with my mom.
My favorite extinct ride has to be the Studio Backlot Tour. It was fun seeing tons of movie props and experiencing special effects first hand, like Catastrophe Canyon
Peoplemover at Disneyland. I went to Disney World recently and loved it so much, I went on it twice. It’s sad to see nothing up on that platform at Disneyland.
I cannot express just how much I miss “Alien Encounter”. One of the greatest theme park experiences I’ve ever had. I pray to Skippy every time I pass by “Stitch’s Great Escape”.
Hands down, Mr Toad’s Wild Ride! My wife really misses the Snow White dark ride at WDW but we’re about to go back in 2015 and hopefully she’ll love the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as much as she loved the old Snow White ride!
In 1992 during their first visit to Disney World we took our then 8 and 6 year old sons to River Country and enjoyed the water slide a bit too much – it became known as the time Mom almost drowned the family, as the swimming ability of father and sons was less than adequate for the depth and current at the bottom of the slide. Sorry that the guys can’t go there as adults and see what it really was like.
For me, it has to be the ExtraTERRORestrial alien encounter… It’s the only attraction in which I’ve been truely scared… The darkness and loud noises of the alien… Amazing
My favorite attraction has to be Pirates of the Caribbean rise at Disney World, you don’t know how many times I went on that ride…..I went on it twice, THAT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE LINES WERE TAKING FOREVER!!
ExtraTERRORestrial alien ruined my childhood but in a way I wouldve wanted to experience it as a grown up, it was so real to me. Also, I loved when the Playhouse Disney show was around and the Backlot tour as well.
Favorite ride is original Journey Into Imagination, but having said that, it’s like picking a favorite child or pet. Just so many great rides and sites to choose from, but most of all it’s that ‘magic feeling’ you can only find at Disney!
Probably my favorite extinct attraction would be The Extra-TERRORestrial Alien Encounter from 1994/5-2003. Although I’d enjoyed Horizons, whenever I think of Alien Encounter, I feel that the intensity of the plot and the atmosphere of being trapped inside a chair where a carnivorous alien, who escape from the teleportation pod and is on the loose, could really make my heart beat in less than a millisecond. And even though Stitch is….ok…Alien Encounter is one of those nostalgic attraction that keeps me wanted to go back for more. Just sayin’! 🙂
The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical in Hollywood Studios (MGM as it was back then!)
It was such a fantastic show, and the singers were always perfect. I re-watch my old holiday videos of it. And just sorely wish it hadn’t gone away. Lights Motors Action has nothing on what this musical had. The theatre was ALWAYS packed because it was just so amazing. Much missed, but forever inspired by it!
I miss River Country the most. My mom and I would go there all the time when I was little and spend the day doing nothing. Some of my favorite memories are at Rover Country with my Mom.
My favorite was Snow White’s Scary Adventures. I get so sad when I pass where it was in MK. When I was little my dad and I would ride it and look for the evil queen together.
I have fond memories of the 2nd floor of Journeys into Imagination. There were all sorts of imaginative activities for both children and adults. Lots of the stuff is still there, sitting unused along with the rest of the 2nd floor.
I would have to say Snow White’s Scary Adventure just because it is the first ride I remember going on on my first visit to Disney World in 2000. I look forward to my first ride on the Mine Train though, so I hope it will bring back those same memories! <3
My favorite extinct DisneyWorld attraction is Cranium Command. It was a great show. I feel so bad that it is still there, abandoned and collecting dust.
Studio Backlot tour in Hollywood Studios and Snow White’s scary adventure. Both bring up fond memories when I used to go with family when I was younger.
Extra terriorestrial Alien encounter. Simply because it was one of the first ever rides I went on as a little girl because I thought I was being taken on the people mover. But then I was traumatized on how scary it was. But after i did realize it was a pretty awesome ride and was able to ride it once more when I was a little older. 🙂
I miss Honey I shrunk the audIence and snow Whites scary adventures from Walt Disney world because I have never got a chance to do it and I miss it a lot

Dale Wagner
I miss Discovery Island. We went to Disney World on out honeymoon 37 1/2 years ago and explored the island. I would love to see it again.

Michelle Aranguren
ExtraTERRORestrial alien ruined my childhood but in a way I wouldve wanted to experience it as a grown up, it was so real to me. Also, I loved when the Playhouse Disney show was around and the Backlot tour as well.

Favorite ride is original Journey Into Imagination, but having said that, it’s like picking a favorite child or pet. Just so many great rides and sites to choose from, but most of all it’s that ‘magic feeling’ you can only find at Disney!
Sarah G.

Leann
20,000 leagues under the sea.

Steve
i miss the original Journey into Imagination. I still sing the “imagination” song.
Kelly

Extra terriorestrial Alien encounter. Simply because it was one of the first ever rides I went on as a little girl because I thought I was being taken on the people mover. But then I was traumatized on how scary it was. But after i did realize it was a pretty awesome ride and was able to ride it once more when I was a little older. 🙂
