I’m very curious to see civilian reactions for this movie. Us Marvel fans knew it’d be a hit. Even though most of the characters have been around since the late 60s, this version of the Guardians was sorta created during the second Annihilation comic book event, and they were such a hit that they got their own title in 2008. And they’ve been around ever since. I urge everyone who comes out of the theater enjoying this adventure to look for the Guardians trade paperback. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

A great standalone movie, though sharp-eyed viewers will see common threads which have been cleverly woven through just about every previous movie in the Marvel Studios series. The resolution of those threads is likely being saved for the end of Phase 3.

I knew it was because they wanted to bring in Thanos right on the heels of the Avengers, but the only other titles he appeared in were Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer, which Fox still had the lock on….So they were “down to” the Guardians. 😉
And I was worried about the Scooby Doo Guy directing it too, but it’s just timing–After Iron Man 3, and Warner/DC going over its own cliff with Batman & Superman, Marvel needs to clear the palate with good canon escapism again. Call this the Emperor’s New Groove of Marvel movies.

I just can’t get over how gorgeous Chris Pratt is in this movie. I never thought of him as sexy before. On Parks & Rec he is so different. In Guardians, he is the sexiest and most gorgeous man I have ever seen. I have such a crush on him right now.

  5. Its aight. Ive seen better
