Comments for Inside ‘Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts’ as Universal Orlando Thrills With Exciting Diagon Alley Ride, Detailed Queue

  1. Hermione

Please, correct the spelling of Voldemoort to Voldemort!

    Besides that, lovely article!

    1. Ricky Brigante

Fixed! I don’t know why I had “oo” in my head. Thanks.

      1. Hermione

It’s the extra evil in him that makes you think that, haha!

      2. Just learned another house going up for sale in the brig. Friends of ours relocating to Mass., not far from where I grew up. I pointed out to them that he will have a hellacious commute (Andover to Lexoigtnn). At least I can fix traffic tickets for him in the right towns.

      3. I hear you. I think they got a raw deal. However, it was more the cab drivers than the other teams. At least they walked away with some cash and prizes.

  2. Liz

my family and I managed to score the package tickets for the week before the opening. I was wondering just how rough the ride might be on someone who’s trying to avoid restraining their neck. Some reviews make it sound gentle and some its just hard to tell. I’d really like my whole family to be able to get on the ride. Though talking mom into it after the Forbidden Journey a few years ago will be the hardest task.

    1. It is a family ride the effects are sharp turns and a fastpase “roller coaster” no we’re as crazy as forbidden journey.

    2. Ricky Brigante

The “roller coaster” parts are brief and very smooth. But I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who has neck problems. There are definitely some thrills.

      1. Liz

Thanks Ricky! I guess my dad and mom will just do a walk through with the rest of us. Mom would probably flip out on me if I put her through another ride with drops 🙂 Dad..well its up to him on the neck issue but I feel he’ll probably sit out.

  3. Marianne

This makes me want to go all the way out to Florida just to ride this.

  4. rebecca

I was really hoping that Harry Potter would show up and ask one of the guests to marry him 🙁 this has been a dream of mine for a harry potter ride since i was a kid. Do you think the ride is set in stone already, or do you think they could take suggestions and add on more if they were asked? i would be willing to ask them to randomly select, or perhaps you could buy it, to have harry potter ask you to marry you at the end of the ride, and to have a picture of you and harry potter in wedding gown to take home. I’ll ask

    1. rebecca

And maybe when the new part of the ride opens, if they do this, Daniel Radcliffe can come to the opening and actually do the marry part himself! And I think the person who thought of the new ride ending should get to be the person who marries harry potter in real life! you guys saw me say the idea here first

      1. Luke

Uhhhh… what? I’ll just skip over my own personal feelings of just how odd what you wrote was, but aside from that Harry Potter is ALREADY married in the book/ film series to Genny. Sorry to disappoint your… fantasy. Lol.

        1. Luke

          Ginny Weasley**

          1. rebecca

This would have happened BEFORE the end of the books, just like this ride does! He could marry someone he truly loves but then pressure from the Weasley family causes him to marry ginny just like in the books. and its a ride anyway, it doesnt have to be real! Wow you lack imagination!

      2. mort

      3. jill

What makes you think he felt pressured to marry Ginny? I don’t remember that in the books.

      4. mark

        Are you retarded?

  5. Michelle

Does this ride accommodate larger guests? My husband cannot ride Mummy, Forbidden Journey or any of the big “thrill” rides do to size constraints. I was just wondering if Gringotts is any different?

    1. Ricky Brigante

The seats are somewhat tight, but more forgiving than Forbidden Journey. There is a test seat outside. This was designed to accommodate more people.

    2. janet

you wont be able to ride if you can’t ride the mummy

    3. mark

Nope, no fatties on this one.

  6. Francis K.

Is the ride intense for people who suffered from motion sickness on Forbidden Journey? I got very nauseated after Forbidden Journey.

I can take Soarin, Star Tours and Transformers. I get sick on FJ and Spider-Man.

    1. Ricky Brigante

If you get sick on Spider-Man but not Transformers, then it’s impossible to say how you’ll do with this. You’ll just have to try it.

  7. Tom

That’s not griphook in bill weasleys office. His name is something like cordack

    1. Yeah, it’s definitely not Griphook. I just tried finding the goblin’s name and couldn’t come up with a definitive answer.

    2. Rocky

      Blordak? Gornuk?

  8. Richard

I noticed in early pre opening pictures of the Gringots banking hall, there were holes in the floor with stantions and chains making a queue. I’m guessing the “free to roam” was a press preview only thing, when the crowd come they need organising!

    1. Ricky Brigante

Unfortunately I believe you are right, at least for the initial massive crowds.

  9. Anna

Been reading about a “steep, downward unexpected drop”. How steep is the drop? Thanks

    1. Ricky Brigante

It’s fairly steep, almost straight down, but it’s over VERY quickly.

  10. Lisy

How many drops does the ride has, and how intense are they. Worse than the mommy??

    1. Ricky Brigante

One big drop, not terribly intense. More surprising than anything.

  11. Steve

Are smaller riders, less than 42″ allowed to go through the queue to experience that part? I’m pretty sure my four year old won’t make the height requirement and will be sorely disappointed.

  12. Taylor

How steep are the drops? If it’s family friendly and 3D, I can’t imagine them being too steep. I can get on ‘Forbidden Journey’ 100 times over with no problem whatsoever. But I’m a bit hesitant with this one because I’m not a roller coaster person.

    1. Ricky Brigante

You will be thrilled by a brief roller coaster portion near the beginning of the ride, but after that it’s much more like a dark ride.

  13. Rebecca

I would also love more info about the drops… I don’t mind spinning or sharp turns (love Forbidden Journey, Spiderman, Transformers, Simpsons)but the “roller coaster” part worries me for this ride. Is it a drop like the Jurassic Park ride? That one almost killed me… I don’t even what to talk about the Mummy! Are they the simulated drops like in Spiderman or real ones? Thanks for the info!!!

    1. EdyeB

Agreed Rebecca!! I have always though this one would be similar to DINOSAUR with some Spidey thrown in for good measure. If the “drop” isn’t that bad (and from the vechile design, I’m guessing it is more sudden–like PIRATES, which is about all I can stand). My main concern is Nagini showing up. I was afraid of that when I heard Voldy would be making an appearance. I couldn’t take the moments in Honey I Shrunk The Audience.

      1. Ricky Brigante

Pirates of the Caribbean is a great comparison. It is a sudden and unexpected drop like that – but steeper. It is over very quickly, followed by some fast turns. After that’s done, there isn’t much more roller coaster type action. The vast majority of the ride is like a dark ride, not a roller coaster.

        1. EdyeB

Thanks Ricky!!! I don’t mind the sharp turns (though the inside lower car on Radator Springs this week was interesting). A quick drop like PIRATES is reassuring.

        2. Marie

I am also a big chicken for drops & some discussions put me at ease with this drop (like this one saying it’s like pirates), while others freak me out saying it’s an 80 foot practically vertical drop (makes me think of Jurassic Park which really scares me). I have also read on other sites saying it’s a very unique drop that is hard to explain. Needless to say, I am confused. I am basically asking for a confirmation of what kind of drop it is. It would be much appreciated. Thanks 🙂

          1. Ricky Brigante

It is hard to explain because it’s not quite like anything else around. But it’s a very smooth drop that you ease into. It’s not sudden, but it does pick up speed by the bottom. It’s not straight down, but along a curved track. It’s really not that bad and is over very quickly.

        3. Shane

Thanks for the info. I’m just wondering, what is meant by the term “dark ride?” Thank you very much.

  14. brett

    Are there inversions

    1. Ricky Brigante

No, it’s not really a roller coaster.

  15. You really make it seem really easy along with your presentation but I to find this topic to
be actually one thing which I believe I’d never understand.
It sort of feels too complex and extremely vast for me.
I’m looking forward to your subsequent submit, I will attempt to get
    the cling of it!

  16. MDAttack

Where is the ride through video?! We want to see the ride! : )

    1. Ricky Brigante

Video is not allowed on this ride.

  17. Cabo

Do you know if the single riders line for gringotts is any different from the standby line in terms of theming and experience ? (Asked in another post) . I’m going to have one shot at this ride and I don’t want to miss any theming…

    1. Veronica J

Yes, the experience is different. I went 2 times today on Single-Rider and I did the regular line yesterday. I had a very short wait of 15 minutes in-and-out on the regular line, so I didn’t go through the extended queue. On the regular line you go through the bank hall and an elevator.. but the single rider line is some sort of hall, where some point right after you pick up your glasses there is a Goblin stating the “you-should-not-ride-if…” in this hall. Immediately after is another hall that is cavernous and takes a turn… after this you are led in a circular room where your path is on a stairwell that only spirals once. The end of the regular line is here and their stairwell starts at the other side of the room. Both meet up and that is basically the end of the line once your reach the top of the staircase.

    2. Ricky Brigante

Yes, the single rider line definitely bypasses a lot of the queue entertainment.

  18. Brennan perry

Hey bub. They actually did record allllll new scenes for this. Not computer generated. I work at universal.

    1. Ricky Brigante

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson did not participate in the creation of Diagon Alley, confirmed by Universal Orlando reps and creative director Thierry Coup.

Also, are you friends with Wolverine by any chance?

  19. Ashley

In the video that universal studios posted, it showed a “free drop” does that happen? If not, why did they include that?

    1. Ricky Brigante

      Which video?

      1. Ricky Brigante

No way! That most definitely does not happen in the ride. That’s a clip from the movie.

    2. great jaggi armor, put decorations in it to make attack up (m)great sword… any of em, bring max whntstoees.blue mushroom+herb= potion, make 20potion + honey = mega potion, make 10bring 10 mega potions, 10 potions, 10 herbs, cool drinks, 20 whetstones, and anything else but you should easily kill it.just hit and roll. cake walk…

  20. Chris Bergoch

Nice review, but one thing… That’s not Griphook in the preshow. Griphook is seen in the ride with our heros briefly, but the preshow goblin is not him. (He’s on an adventure with Harry, Hermione and Ron while that is occurring) 🙂

    1. Ricky Brigante

      Thanks. Fixed.

  21. Steve

Is this ride more like Spider-man and Transformers? Or is it more like The Forbidden Journey ride?

I ask because I’m afraid to go on Escape from Gringotts, which is due to my unfortunately vivid memory of riding the Forbidden Journey 3 1/2 years ago and being on the verge of upchucking for the vast majority of the experience. Oddly enough, on rides like Spider-man, Transformers and the Simpsons/Back to the Future I’m perfectly fine.

    1. Daniel

The ride is a very smooth version of Spiderman/Transformers. This ride is best for all ages where the original Harry Potter ride was far more “violent” on the senses. You’ll be fine, it is nowhere near the “roller coaster” experience they play it off to be.

When it comes to meaning of property damage in the eyes
of the insurance companies it is defined as damage to a vehicle whether
it be a car, truck, motorcycle or SUV. Vehicle once declared salvage can be repaired and used if
vital parts of the vehicle have not been damaged by the accident.

  23. I have read so many articles or reviews about the blogger lovers but this paragraph is genuinely a fastidious piece
    of writing, keep it up.

  24. Thanks designed for sharing such a pleasant opinion, paragraph is
nice, thats why i have read it completely

  25. It’s going to be finish of mine day, but before end I
am reading this impressive article to improve my know-how.

  26. Hey! Quick question that’s completely off topic. Do
you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My site looks weird when viewing from my iphone.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue.
If you have any recommendations, please share. Cheers!

  27. Joey

I’m probably the millionth person to say this but… the drop. The words “sends the car plummeting downward in a steep, unexpected drop.” don’t sound very nice to me. 🙂 Is it a drop that your stomach feels like it is going up to your brain, or just a relaxing drop?

  28. ted

Given any thought to the possibility that the elevator is just a room with two sets of doors and an effect filled ride between them. As you point out, it is odd that you immediately go up the stairs upon exiting the elevator. When you exit the actual ride, I believe you go down exactly one flight of stairs and are at the level you came in at.

  29. Mara Rahl

It’s too bad the ride isn’t very long. We just left the ride an hour ago and we just felt like it should have been a bit longer. We rode The Mummy earlier and Forbidden Journey and they felt much longer. Skull Island is a bit too short as well.
