I was just reading that Natures Wonderland opened in 1956 and the Calico Mine Train in 1960. Of course the Real and Original Calico Ghost Town train mine attraction is older than both I believe. It was great to give Bud Hurlbut a tour of all the mining artifacts at Big Thunder in 1979 which inspired him to add some to his mine ride at Knott’s. Its great to see the Calico train with all its 4 drive wheels and wish Disney would put them all back on the Big Thunder trains which have been missing since Michael Eisner was watching over the attraction. They really look odd without them, and should have been put back on the recent rehab at Disneyland. I have always been inspired by Buds mining sets and animated machinery. Here’s to you Bud.
