Amidst the excitement of last week’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley preview, Universal Orlando also celebrated the official grand opening of its fourth on-site hotel – Cabana Bay Beach Resort.
Marking the debut of the hotel’s new wing, adding an 8,000 square foot zero-entry pool and lazy river, Universal threw a big bash featuring fireworks, an appearance by the University of Florida synchronized swimming team, and a concert performance by The Beach Boys.
Mike Love was the only original member of The Beach Boys performing with an assortment of longtime and more recent additions to the band. But no matter the exact lineup, they surely sounded great, bringing back decades of memories for attendees and even attracting attention from onlookers peering out of their windows throughout the new wing.
Adding to the retro feel of the poolside bash, a group of swimsuit wearing partygoers were part of the evening’s entertainment, like they had just stepped out of an Frankie Avalon film, even joining The Beach Boys on stage for “Barbara Ann.”
This new Universal Orlando hotel features a total of 1,800 moderate and value priced rooms with decor that evokes the classic feel of iconic beach resorts from the 1950s and 60s.

In addition to the family suites that debuted earlier this year, the new standard guest rooms feature two queen size beds, a mini fridge, and a flat screen TV, each with access via indoor hallways.

The new wing overlooks a 6,000 square foot sand beach alongside the new pool and lazy river, featuring waterfalls and water cannons.

The Hideaway Bar & Grill also adds poolside and rooftop options for enjoying a specialty cocktail, freshly made smoothie, or simple grill menu items.
The rest of the hotel features more enjoyable amenities including a bowling alley, food court, multiple fire pits, and another big pool with water slide.
Rates for standard guest rooms begin at $119 per night, and can run as low as $93 per-night depending on the length of stay. Rates for the family suites begin at $174 per-night, down to $134 per-night.
