Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend announced by runDisney, to race at Disneyland in January 2015

Disneyland and runDisney have announced the first-ever Star Wars race, set to take place January 15-18, 2015

, 10K, 5K, Kids Races, Wookiee Welcome Party and an Expo. There will also be a Rebel Challenge with a special reward for completing both the Half Marathon and the 10K.

The 13.1-mile course will include Star Wars characters, Disney characters and other entertainment. Star Wars Half Marathon race participants will receive a commemorative finisher medal among other goodies.

The Star Wars Wookiee Welcome Party in Tomorrowland will include character meet-and-greets, a dessert reception, and access to rides.

Registration opens at noon ET on Tuesday, June 10, 2014.

Disney has also previously announced the upcoming Marvel-based Avengers Superhero Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland in November 2014.
