Harambe Nights announced as new evening entertainment for Disney’s Animal Kingdom with special Lion King performance

Walt Disney World has announced a new nighttime offering for Disney’s Animal Kingdom to debut this summer.

The separately-ticketed event is called Harambe Nights and will take place on Saturdays in the park’s new Harambe Theater, the home to the recently relocated Festival of the Lion King show.

It will include special live entertainment, food, and drinks, along with a street party afterward.

The Lion King: Concert in the Wild will include live versions of scenes from the movie with a celebrity narrator and live orchestra.

Celebrity narrators currently scheduled to appear include:

Viola Davis – June 7, 2014
TBD – June 14, 2014
Montego Glover – June 21, 2014
David Alan Grier – June 28, 2014
Michael Beach – July 5, 2014
Harry Lennix – July 12, 2014
Joe Morton – July 19, 2014
Alfre Woodard – July 26, 2014
Brian Stokes Mitchell – August 2, 2014
Patina Miller – August 9, 2014

Harambe Nights begins June 7 and is available through August 9 2014, 7pm to 10:30pm each Saturday evening. Prices begin at $119 for adults and $79 for children.

Harambe Nights will mark the beginning of a new night life for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a small step toward the infusion of new entertainment that will culminate with the opening of an “Avatar” based land in a few years.
