I have been collecting Star Wars for 35 years and, with the exception of a few pieces that are average, these are some of the worst Star Wars offerings I’ve seen. The body proportion of Jabba is laughable. I really hope Disney steps it up for the new movies.
They said the ships would be die cast and they were pretty much just displaying plastic prototypes not the finished product so don’t get cranky – looks like great detail on the Falcon!
If you knew Jonathan personally, you’d know he’s one of the biggest Star Wars fans around. If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all… Especially if you don’t know the person!
I’ve been collecting for thirty five years as well and these are some of the nicest items I’ve seen in a long time. In particular the twelve inch figures – excellent likeness of Solo – even better than the high end Sideshow sculpt.
Now if only Hasbro could lift their game….
The Hasbro Titanium Ultra series of larger die cast vehicles were far superior to these. I have several of the Disney and the only really well done one is the Star Destroyer. Of course I remind myself these are for kids to play with whereas the Titanium Ultra were more for the collector. I have hopes that the Hot Wheels Six inch series will be a lot better.
Holy butts people are cranky about these. The 18″ talking figures look freaking sweet, as do the mugs. The 18″ figures are the best quality I’ve ever seen for $30, I’m excited.
I wouldn’t say “with a little something for everyone”. There isn’t any prequel merchandise shown. It’s not just kids that grew up with the prequels that love them. I was born in 1977, so I was definitely an original trilogy kid, but I love the prequels every bit as much as I love Episodes IV – VI and I’m not the only one.
The faces on the Han Solo & Luke Skywalker are not very likeness of the characters. Also the painting is too shiny on their faces and looks weird. I don’t think I want those. Just Darth & the Stormtrooper looks good.
Disney needs to employ a real Star Wars fan to help with feedback for the sculpts of the Star Wars merchandise. It could be much better.
Three of the larger articulated talking figures are out. I purchased the Stormtrooper and it’s spot on! Nice open front display for the collector. The vocals and detail are great. Highly recommend this one.
…Side note: Has anyone else noticed how Princess Leah figures are often bizarre looking? I know what Austin Powers would say if he saw some of these: “She’s a MAN baby!”. Carrie Fisher is gorgeous- get Disney artists to replicate her beautiful face!
Do you mind if I quote a couple of your articles as long as I provide credit and sources

First of all I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask
if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center
yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I’ve
had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Thank you!

Awesome! SO glad these will be available to the public. Plan on getting the plushies, the 13 dollar statues etc. GOOD call Disney!

The engines on the x wing have been put on backwards. How could nobody of noticed that before they published a photo of it
Rich M
Ha! You’re right! They ARE on backwards. How in the world did they miss that?!
Stan Solo
I thought the same thing as soon as I looked at it.
I had higher hopes for these collectables. It looks like they are going after the kid market and not the adult collector.
The coffee mugs look great though.

Leia and Luke look odd. I like the plush toys though ..oh the mugs as well. Not too bad a line up, but not too great either.

Its almost as if they want to ignore the abomination and travesty that the prequels were!
