“Abomination”? Most of the Muppets look like a cross between two (or more) species anyway, so a frog/pig kid shouldn’t be too much of a stretch. Could even be cute, if designed properly.

In any case – speaking of abominations – I’m not prepared to pay money to see Ricky Gervais under any circumstances. Tina Fey’s braying voice is another reason to take a pass on this film. To quote the late, great Roger Ebert: Sorry, Miss Piggy. I’m really sorry.

It’s the same problem as with Segel’s script for the first movie, where the makers of the film don’t know quite whether they’re laughing WITH the Muppets or AT them.
(And the good parts we got in the previous movie were only after the real Henson performers complained, and Pixar’s pro-Muppets script doctors threw out most of Segel’s backhanded snubbing and celeb cameos and made the characters likable again.)

What gave the old 70’s-80’s Muppets “soul” was that they were in their own universe–Jerry Juhl wrote everything from the Show up until “Muppets From Space”, and he understood the Muppet Alternate Universe, as well as what made the characters such lovable oddballs. It wasn’t JUST about parodying movie trailers or singing Bohemian Rhapsody.

Stop looking for excuses to pick things apart, EricJ. Your hatred of the newer movies is completely unwarranted (yes, unwarranted)! >:(

  3. This movie looks like a fun movie, regardless of it’s perks. I can’t wait to see this with my little sis in theaters!

I totally loved it. My not quite 2 year old sat through the whole thing and loved it. It was awesome. I immediately downloaded the soundtrack before pulling out of the theater. I think I might even like this one better. The interpol CIA scenes stole the movie. It was just great all around! I’m glad animal had such a big role. This time even Rizzo got to speak! Now if they could just bring back Bean Bunny.
