was set to go out on this voyage and was heartbroken to find out the bad news. unfortunately Disney sucks and could care less about their cast members that bought tickets to go on the cruise with our families. no free cruise for us, thanks a lot Disney

Cast members were told too bad. As if out kids aren’t as devastated

      1. Jen

yes exactly, that’s what’s really the most upsetting

Disney sucks! They care not about their cruisers. I waited for 60 minutes on the phone today to find out my options: reimbursement for cruise but not airfare (maybe willing to pay for airfare transfers, read the fine print people) then a complimentary cruise that needs to be booked by May 2014 on the Magic. Hey guess what you suckbags, there is no comparable cruise. They are all 4 nights and we had a 5 night cruise. Oh and thanks for giving us a whole two days to try to come up with a new plan. We have six people going on this cruise including two young children and two grandparents. It is not easy to just plan all of that time off work and come up with a brand new plan in two days. Why couldn’t they tell us earlier and give us a chance to salvage this vacation? Why couldn’t they give us a longer window to book a trip. Why can’t they offer us an upgrade on a bigger ship for the inconvenience and hassle that they put us through? This is bad business and I am sticking with Royal Carribean.

You are absolutely correct. The only five day are sold out in 2013 and the 2014 are only 4 day. Disney did just announce a 7 day land sea package. I think they should offer that as an alternative.

Have tickets for this cruise! Been booked since April took work off husband took work off have airline tickets that are useless. Change fee really? Try re scheduling everything we had to to BE the 1st on the Magic! And just for the record havent gotten an email or phone call! Flying out in the morning!!!! Thanks Disney you really disappointed us and the family thats from another state we were traveling with. Maybe you should tell the little girl in our party that its cancelled!

I am the “other family” Ann Marie is referring to!!! And yes, my 7year old is DEVASTATED!!! YOU CAN’T PUT A PRICETAG ON THAT! WHY not just bring over ONE OF THE OTHER SHIPS and accomodate everyone?!?!?!

Our family left Denver today to be told during our layover in Houston that Disney had cancelled the cruise. We were scheduled to go to disneyworld and stay at yacht club after the cruise and now we are stuck in miami for a week with no reservations, a car or anything. We called Disney reservations in Orlando and everything is sold out & they were no help at all. Very frustrating!!!

I am sure the other ships are booked. Just got off my 7 day cruise on the Disney Fantasy and saw the Magic docked next door(Port Canaveral). Couldnt see what they were doing exactly, but had a crane working.

Same here. Got the terrible news via automated phone call today. Cried in the middle of work as I was heartbroken. How am I going to tell my 4 year old daughter she is no longer going to get to dress like a princess every night and go to dinner on the magical ship. The thought of waking up on Sunday with no vacation to go on is depressing. And how can Disney feel good about calling people 2 days before! Did they really not know before today that they were going to have to cancel the cruise? with more notice we could have figured out another plan for our plane tickets going to Miami!

I imagine they were trying their best to get it done. I think Disney is very accommodating in that they are paying any change fees you might need for your current airfare, giving you a full refund on the cruise, offering a free five day cruise and airfare for that cruise. I can imagine it is disappointing but if it were me I would head to Disney World for an amazing 5 days with the refund and then book my free flights and cruise for May!

      1. DONNA

Free flights??? Where do you see that? They are compensating only for flight change costs.

I think you have to be willing to make changes if your on one of the first sailings after a huge dry dock, since when do things ever go to plan anyway! Disappointing I know but disney obviously intending to make the sailing otherwise they would not have left it so late things do happen! I think you’ll find all cruise ships reserve the right to cancel any sailing even if it’s down to weather so it’s not like it’s the first time this could happen. You should prob consider the facts and that you were not speaking to anyone direct on the cruise ship your speaking to a middle man who prob has many people complaining at him.

Too bad the corporate structure gets in the way of the Disney Cruise staff.
Truly top notch people and first rate experience. My families best vacation ever.

Sounds like a lot of mistakes were made by Disney.

We, too, were booked on the Magic. We booked the cruise in November 2012 for our 25th wedding anniversary. We booked it because it stopped at Castaway Cay as that is what my wife really, really wanted. After the cruise we had booked a few days at Port Orleans French Quarter. So since I already had my vacation scheduled at work, we decided to extend the Disney stay. Not an easy process at all, and the cast members didn’t know anything about the Magic cancellation.

So, here it is Sunday, and we are at the French Quarter after driving up from Ft Lauderdale. Yes, I had non refundable tickets. Our two separate reservations could not be combined, they have us in two different rooms, and no one has expressed any sort of empathy. The only “I’m so sorry, I couldn’t imagine” came from the staff at Raglan Rd in Downtown Disney.

    Where is the Disney Magic?

  6. I understand the reasoning behind this, but Seriously? It is good that Disney is providing an alternative, but not paying for the flight is just wrong. Thankfully, I wasn’t planning to be on the voyage, but for those who were, I understand your frustration.

So I booked the magic last year for my sons 5th birthday on the ship. Just to tell him we were going three days before we left that he was going to spend his birthday with Mickey and Minnie. He was so excited he to told all his friends at preschool the next day. But that same day my travel agent calls and tells me and his dad that disney was canceling, so when he got home from school we had to tell him the bad news 🙁 so by the time he finally realized we weren’t going and he had stop being sad about not going, he gets a phone call from Mickey and his friend telling him he was going. So he came in and told me and his dad that we had lied to him coz Mickey just called. THANKS ALOT DISNEY !!! Now my son thinks his parent lied to a four year old! : /

Our party of 5 traveled to Disney World 5 days prior as we travel from Maine and don’t want to miss our sailing. Got the news while at Disney. It happens. Disney can’t control the weather or construction delays. Maybe allowing a few days more to ensure the delivery date would have been appropriate. We were stranded at Disneyworld. No flights out from Orland. Disney works hard to help us get home. Questions I have. Do we get the “Onboard Credit” when we book makeup cruise? We were going to book 6 staterooms next Oct for daughters 40th birthday. Do we get the 10% discount and room credits? If we wait to book on out makeup cruise in April, will the room be available? My mother and I were on the MAGIC last sailing before MAGIC went to the Med. We now missed the inaugural first sailing since its makeover seeing the new changes. You can never get that back. There are no two stops at Castaway Cay. Unless u want a 5 night western crib cruise, your stuck with 4 night cruise or elect the 35% discount route. For those who booked this failed cruise while onboard another cruise, push for the additional 10% discount and onboard credits you should have gotten. Keep the faith. It’s devastating to everyone, especially young children, but Disney IS trying to make it right. Keep the faith. Disney Cruise Line is still by far the best family cruise line afloat.
