Fans of Halloween Horror Nights and other popular haunts will have a chance to experience a taste of the spooky holiday more than a month before those events begin.
A new convention called ScareLA is planned as the first in Los Angeles dedicated exclusively to celebrating Halloween. It will take place in downtown LA on August 10 and 11, 2013, the same weekend Disney’s D23 Expo will be held in nearby Anaheim. Fans of both styles of themed entertainment will have to decide where to split their attention as ScareLA promises two days packed with presentations, panels, performances, and behind-the-scenes looks at haunted attractions.

Notable special guests presenting at the event include Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights Creative Director John Murdy, Garner Holt of animatronics-producer Garner Holt Productions, legendary yard haunter & monster prop collector Bob Burns, “Paranormal Activity” producer and creator of the Blumhouse of Horros Jason Blum and many other haunt owners and designers.
