Last night, Disneyland welcomed annual passholders into New Orleans Square for the first performance of Fantasmic! with the resort’s new interactive “Glow With the Show” Mickey Mouse ear hats. Hundreds of passholders gathered along the Rivers of America to be dazzled by a flashing and fading rainbow colors across guests’ heads.
Inside the Magic reader DJ Chavez was in attendance for the debut event, sharing his photos and a few thoughts:
The ears did give the show more flare, and got the audience more involved into the show. It was truly a nice site to see, but there are some points of the show where the ears didn’t glow, where they should have. But this is the first show of Fantasmic that Disneyland attempted, maybe they’ll make some changes down the line. I really look forward to what else that Disneyland will do with these ears…hopefully try it with the firework show in the future.
All the tiny colored lights in the distance in DJ’s photos below are each Glow With the Show ear hats surrounding the lagoon.
Disneyland will officially make the “Glow With the Show” ears part of nightly Fantasmic! performances beginning Friday, August 31. The ear hats cost $25 and are available throughout the Disneyland Resort, though passholders attending this event received coupons for a discount. In addition to Fantasmic!, the ears interact with a variety of Disney California Adventure sights, including World of Color, Mad T Party, and Cars Land.
