Honestly, a bit suprised by the prizes. Would have thought that 3rd place would get something a bit more than that, especially given the number of total teams. Was there a cost to enter? I’m sure the experience and honor of 3rd place is pretty priceless though! Now, maybe if they would have given you a copy of Song of the South?? LOL.
Ricky, the whole thing sounds so exhausting. To me, the mere fact that you guys finished at all is impressive enough. But to come in 3rd place, that is mind blowing! My hat is off to all four of you.
I am sure if I were there, I would have wandered off two hours into it, only to be found by my teammates sipping a margarita at La Hacienda de San Angel.
I did the Great Disneyland Scavenger Hunt last year, and had a blast, but was very disappointed that I wouldn’t be able to make a jaunt to the other side of the country to compete in this scavenger hunt. Sounds like the questions were very similar, but I like the way the hunt was organized for you, where you had 4 hours at this park, 3 at the other, etc. I think that would have been a bit more efficient and, well healthier. In the 5 hours we had to visit the entire resort, we took no bathroom breaks, didn’t eat, and barely drank water in the 110 degree heat. Completely insane, but we were so focused on the questions that it didn’t even occur to us (and it may have helped that we are desert rats from Arizona and used to being in a constant state of dryness). But, I think my team and I learned a lot, and if the scavenger hunt comes back to Disneyland any time soon, we will be much better prepared. We told ourselves that we would be doing really well if we ended up in the top 200 and we got exactly 200th place, LOL.
Loved hearing the recap (and was really hoping you would do one) and keep up with the good work. Sounds like you enjoyed it as much as I did.
We also did the scavenger hunt and had a blast. We didn’t do as well, 140th place, but we just wanted to get more than half of the points possible which we did, so we thought we won. Did you by any chance keep a copy of the questions? I would love to be able to get the answers to the ones that we didn’t finish. Would love if you would share them. See you next time!

My sister and I were “The Californian Adventurers” and had an amazing, exhausting and awesome time participating in the Hunt. We came in 443rd with 228 points! 🙂 About what we expected, as we are unfamiliar with the WDW Parks and unused to that weather. We watched and clapped as your team was announced as 3rd plce winners…well done! Also, kudos to the organizers and the folks who put the clue books together. Altogether a super experience!
