This is fabulous. Are we going to eventually get this in Florida? Maybe to replace the old Little Mermaid attraction … ???

Yes, the ride will be part of the ongoing Fantasyland expansion in Orlando, set to open in 2012.

yeah i heard florida will get one where the meet n greet is. there will still be a place to meet ariel, so it will just add on to it, but it will open in 2013

This is some very cool new technology. But the thing I am wondering is if this will be another finding nemo.
Aside from the obvious upgraded scenery and actual animatronics the ride track and even the vehicles ( both sea shells, if im not mistaken) are identical.

I just inquire because honestly finding Nemo is not one of my favorites. But this seems like an upgrade for sure!
Looking forward to it coming to florida.

The ride type (Omnimover) and vehicles are certainly similar to The Seas with Nemo and Friends at Epcot, but I think the similarities will end there. Nemo was a retro-fit into the Living Seas, so they did what they could will the available space. The Little Mermaid is new construction, so I expect it will be bigger and more impressive throughout.

And Florida has the benefit of being second here. If something doesn’t turn out as well as the Imagineers planned in California, they’ll have the opportunity to fix it in Florida.

Man this is an impressive piece of tech. Hopefully this won’t breakdown one day and go into a disco mode a la the Yeti in Everest.

I can already picture my 3 year old daughter freaking out from this (she finds Ursula terrifying). Of course when this opens she’ll be 5, maybe she will have warmed up to Ursula by then.

Will there be an “ariel” as part of the show and how do we audition.?

    1. Ricky Brigante

It’s a ride, not a show, so Ariel will be an animatronic not played by a real person.
