In a forty-five year tradition started by Walt Disney himself, Disneyland today selected the 2011 Disneyland Ambassadors, Jolie Hales and René Torrico. The pair will hold the titles for two years, acting on behalf of the Disneyland Resort and its 20,000 cast members.
Ambassadors not only help with special events inside Disney’s theme parks but also at local hospitals and charity fundraisers.

While I congratulate René and Jolie for receiving their new highly-coveted positions, I do so with some sadness as two of my friends, Allie Kawamoto and Allison Montanile, were also finalists to be Disneyland Ambassador.
Allie was a fellow winner of the 2007 Disney Dream Job contest, during which I was a Haunted Mansion Butler for a day and she was a High School Musical parade performer. During that same weekend, I came to know Allison, who was a Haunted Mansion Maid and one of our trainers at the attraction. Both Allie and Allison embody the spirit of the Walt Disney Company and I’m happy to have known them both over the last few years. I wish them, and all of the Ambassador finalists, a magic-filled future at Disney.
