Meet Phineas, Ferb, and Agent P at the newly designed Disney Store at the Shops at Montebello - Inside the Magic

  1. Wild Ol' Dan

    Howdy Pards,

Ya know, it is exciting to see that the folks at the Disney Store and the Walt Disney Company recognize that they HAVE to do something different to continue to attract people to their stores. What they have not figured out yet is that they should not just focus on young kids… they should focus on ALL AGES. That means adult clothes, that means Disney Collectibles from the “Old days” as well as today. For gosh sake that means real Mickey Mouse watches! Quality stuff…not just pink and blue plastic and plush toys focused on seven year olds.
What the company does not seem to understand is that Disney Stores are the primary year round outlet for most people. Not everyone goes to the Disney Parks every year. And not everyone is a nine year old girl or a bubblegum chewing teenager. Oh how I long for the good ol’ days when Walt Disney told exciting stories for the whole family. Not mindless, loud, teen girl stuff…but Zorro, the Swampfox, The Nine Lives of Elfago Bacca, along with exciting looks into the world of tomorrow, into True Life Adventures, into Fantasy, and stories of the Frontier. Where did all that magic go? The young whippersnappers in charge today need to talk to some of us who were around back in Walt’s time. Dave Smith knows what I am talking about. If they want the Disney Store to be successful…bring back some of Walt’s ideas about entertainment…bring back the magic! Maybe a good start would be to
actually read some of those D-23 magazines celebrating Walt.
FAMILY…not just little girls and boys…and real stuff…not just pink and blue plastic and beach towels. Bring back the magic.
The guys with the clipboards had better look at what’s happening in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter right now. Look at the ages of the
people visiting the village of Hogsmeade…and look at what is being bought by those people. Even seven year old girls aren’t seven year old girls forever. Return to the concept of serving all ages…that was Walt’s idea…family entertainment. And Disney Stores have the potential of bringing Disney to millions of folks who cannot afford to visit Disneyland or Walt Disney World every year. Focus on the Family.

Adios for now. Talk to ya on down the trail.

I agree with Dan. My family is taking its first ever trip to Disney World this year, and I’m an eighteen year old woman who isn’t even excited for the trip because all I see is a theme park that revolves around little kids and is designed to attract them. What is there for me to see at these parks, for me to enjoy? What am I going to get out of this trip, if anything?

    1. Ricky Brigante

If that’s the attitude you approach the visit with, you may not have any fun. But if you embrace that Walt Disney World is designed for children and adults to enjoy and keep your eyes open for the wide variety of entertainment that’s available, you’re sure to find something that appeals to you. It may not be a character meet-and-greet or Fantasyland dark ride, but between thrill rides, live shows, fine dining, concerts, and many other forms of entertainment, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll have a good time SOMEWHERE in or around Disney’s theme parks.
