Disney’s official fan community, D23, has dreamed up another exciting events for Disney fans to take part in at the Disneyland Resort. The newly-announced Great Disney Scavenger Hunt is said to take teams of guests “from Downtown Disney to the Disneyland Hotel, from the Matterhorn to Midway Mania” to solve clues and win unique Disney prizes.
Teams of up to four people compete against the clock to gather points with the top 10 teams winning sought-after Disney prizes from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, the Walt Disney Collectors’ Society, Disney Publishing, Walt Disney Records and more.
Like other official D23 fan gatherings, this event has taken cues from similar past fan-created unofficial events such as MousePlanet’s MouseAdventure, but with official twists that only the Walt Disney Company itself can provide.
Those interested in participating need not be a D23 member, though members will get a discount. Any Disney fan can register for the Great Disney Scavenger Hunt by visiting disney.com/D23 when registration opens on July 12. The cost is $50 for a team (up to four people) of D23 Members and $75 for a team of non-members.
The Great Disney Scavenger Hunt will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Disneyland Hotel and will last five hours. The entire Disneyland Resort will be home to clues, though theme park admission is not included in the registration fee. Those attending the same weekend’s separately-ticketed D23 Destination D: Disneyland ’55 event will receive a special convention-rate admission.
Attendance at Destination D is reserved for members of D23, Disney’s official fan club, while the Great Disney Scavenger Hunt is open to all Disney fans.
