At the Disneyland Resort’s “What’s Next?” presentation on June 10, 2010, Imagineer Kathy Rogers announced a new destination and timeline for the upcoming Star Tours II update to the popular Star Wars-based Disney ride.
But today an additional detail about the attraction’s enhancements has been revealed by D23, the official community for Disney fans.
According to the D23 web site, the new version of Star Tours will feature a number of different sequences and familiar destinations from the Star Wars universe that guests won’t necessarily visit during each ride. Instead, guests will some how “change where the story is going” during the ride.
In the D23 article, Al Weiss, president of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is quoted as saying, “There’s an incredible number of different variations. You will rarely, if ever, see the same show twice. And it’s all in 3D.”
Rumors of randomized sequences have been popular among those imagining what Star Tours II will be like. But it seems like the variety of experiences available will actually be dependent on decisions made by the guests riding in the attraction’s Starspeeder 1000 and will enable everyone to see a number of different locations in that famous galaxy far, far away.
Star Tours II will premiere at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme parks in 2011.
