Cleverly disguised under the YouTube username “MrCrazycommercials“, Disney/Pixar has posted a strikingly believable “old” commercial for a toy that never existed based on Lots-o’-huggin’ Bear, a new character in the upcoming film Toy Story 3. If you grew up in the late-’70s/early-’80s, you’ll instantly recognize this type of carefree kid’s advertisement:
Disney/Pixar have really outdone themselves with this “viral” commercial. All the necessary elements are there to make it 100% believable: the corny song, the over-copied VHS tape lines, the children skipping around holding plastic lunch boxes, and the obligatory shot of the girl being tucked into bed – all the while holding and loving their “Lotso” Bear.
I only hope that this ad makes it to television exactly as-is, leaving the majority of viewers scratching their heads and searching the Internet.
