Walt Disney World has officially completed another change at Magic Kingdom, and this time, the work involves a popular Fantasyland location that guests have enjoyed for years.
Disney continues to make changes throughout its flagship theme park, with several attractions undergoing refurbishments and other areas preparing for major transformations. While some projects involve entirely new experiences, others focus on maintaining the smaller details that make Magic Kingdom special.

One location inspired by Disney’s Tangled (2010) recently caught visitors’ attention after construction barriers appeared and portions of its familiar decorations began disappearing.
Now, Disney has officially finished the project, replacing the faded artwork with a refreshed version of the colorful design.
And for guests who love discovering the hidden details throughout Magic Kingdom, the completed work brings a familiar piece of Fantasyland back to life.
Disney World Officially Completes ‘Tangled’ Area Replacement
Magic Kingdom’s Tangled-themed restroom area has received a fresh coat of paint, restoring one of Fantasyland’s most recognizable decorative features.
According to WDWNT, the refurbishment was officially completed by Wednesday, October 21, 2026, when visitors spotted the updated mural fully uncovered.
The restroom area sits in Fantasyland near Peter Pan’s Flight and “it’s a small world”, offering guests a small corner of the park inspired by Rapunzel’s world.
Although the location doesn’t feature a traditional ride or character meet-and-greet, it has become a favorite spot for Disney fans thanks to its detailed theming.
The area features architecture inspired by the kingdom of Corona, decorative lanterns, and colorful artwork that resembles the designs Rapunzel creates throughout the animated movie.
However, some of those details had started showing their age.
During August and September 2026, visitors noticed that portions of the exterior mural appeared faded. Some of the darker colors had disappeared, while artwork extending onto the concrete showed visible wear.
Disney eventually began refreshing the area, temporarily placing large rolling planters around the mural while crews worked.
Those planters have now disappeared, revealing the completed project.
Magic Kingdom Replaces Faded Artwork With Vibrant New Colors
The newly refreshed mural brings back the bright colors that originally made this Fantasyland location stand out.
The artwork begins above the restroom entrance, continues down the right side of the exterior wall, and extends onto the pavement.
Guests can now see restored shades of gold, pink, lavender, and purple throughout the design.
The mural also includes floral patterns and sun symbols inspired by Tangled (2010), connecting the restroom area’s appearance to Rapunzel’s story.
While Disney has restored the artwork’s appearance, the company hasn’t introduced an entirely different design.

Instead, the project preserves the existing mural while replacing the faded paint with brighter colors.
That distinction matters because the Tangled restroom area remains a recognizable part of Fantasyland.
Disney didn’t need to completely redesign the location to give it a fresh appearance. By restoring the existing artwork, crews maintained the area’s familiar look while addressing the wear that had developed over time.
The rolling planters used during the refurbishment also allowed guests to continue accessing the restrooms while Disney worked on the surrounding decorations.
Now that the project is complete, visitors can once again enjoy the entire mural without temporary barriers blocking portions of the artwork.
This Isn’t the First Time Disney Has Refreshed the ‘Tangled’ Location
Interestingly, the latest refurbishment comes less than two years after Disney previously refreshed the same mural.
The artwork last received attention in June 2025, when crews restored its colors without changing the original design.
That means the Fantasyland location has now undergone another paint refresh in approximately 16 months.
Outdoor decorations at Walt Disney World face constant exposure to Florida’s intense sunshine, heavy rain, humidity, and thousands of guests moving through the parks.
Over time, those conditions can affect painted surfaces, particularly artwork located directly on walkways.
The Tangled mural presents an additional maintenance challenge because portions of its design extend onto the ground, where regular foot traffic can contribute to wear.
Disney’s latest work restores the appearance of those surfaces without removing the familiar artwork.
For guests planning an upcoming Magic Kingdom vacation, the completed project means another small section of Fantasyland is looking refreshed.
Disney Continues Making Changes Throughout Magic Kingdom
The Tangled refurbishment comes as Magic Kingdom undergoes several larger changes across the park.
Frontierland remains a major focus of Disney’s long-term expansion plans, particularly following the permanent closure of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island in July 2025.
Disney is preparing to transform that former waterfront area into a new destination inspired by the American wilderness.
Elsewhere, Tomorrowland continues experiencing changes as Disney works on existing attractions and prepares for future improvements.
Those larger projects naturally receive much of the attention, especially when they involve attraction closures, construction equipment, and major changes to familiar park areas.
However, Disney also continues investing in smaller maintenance projects throughout Magic Kingdom.
The Tangled mural refurbishment is one example of how the company maintains themed environments even when no new attraction is involved.
For many visitors, these decorative touches are part of what separates Magic Kingdom from a traditional amusement park.
Guests don’t necessarily need to experience a ride to appreciate the details surrounding them.
In Fantasyland, everything from the buildings and walkways to the landscaping contributes to the feeling of stepping into a Disney story.

The Tangled area is especially popular because it transforms an otherwise ordinary restroom location into a themed environment that feels connected to the animated film.
What Guests Can Expect From the Updated Fantasyland Area
Guests visiting Magic Kingdom can now see the restored Tangled mural without the temporary planters that surrounded the work area earlier in October.
The refurbishment hasn’t changed the restroom facilities themselves, and Disney hasn’t announced any new attraction or entertainment experience connected to the project.
Instead, the update focuses on restoring the colorful artwork that visitors already recognize.
The surrounding Tangled-themed area remains a popular location for photographs, particularly for guests who enjoy the lantern decorations and architectural details.
While the mural’s replacement paint might seem minor compared to Magic Kingdom’s larger construction projects, the completed work restores a familiar visual feature that had noticeably faded.
With the project now finished, guests heading into Fantasyland will find Rapunzel’s colorful artwork looking much closer to its original appearance.
And as Disney continues making changes across Magic Kingdom, this is one familiar corner of the park that has received an update without losing the details that made it special in the first place.
