Marvel Studios’ decision to end Daredevil: Born Again after its third season has left fans wondering what comes next for the residents of Hell’s Kitchen. Now, one of the franchise’s longest-serving stars has weighed in, and she doesn’t sound shocked.

Deborah Ann Woll, who has played Karen Page since Netflix’s Daredevil first arrived on the Netflix streaming platform in 2015, addressed the news in a recent interview with ComicBookMovie while promoting her new horror movie, The Cycle (2026). Her answer offers a calm, grounded perspective on a decision that has rattled much of the Marvel fanbase.
Deborah Ann Woll Speaks Out
Few characters have been as constant in this corner of Marvel as Karen Page. Woll first brought the reporter-turned-investigator to life on Netflix, and her performance carried straight over into the Disney+ revival. That independence is front and center heading into Season 3.
During her conversation with ComicBookMovie, Woll was asked her thoughts on the cancellation and where she would like to see Karen’s story go from here.
“It wasn’t super surprising to me, no,” Woll told the outlet. “I don’t know about hopes moving forward. I mean, obviously, in my mind, she’s a full person with a full life, and her life will continue. She’s going to continue to fight injustice, and whether they choose to include any of that is up to people far above my pay grade.”

Woll’s comments draw an important line between the series and the character. Born Again may be wrapping up, but Karen Page, in the actress’s eyes, isn’t going anywhere. She remains a journalist and investigator driven by a need to expose corruption, and that mission doesn’t stop when the cameras do.
Marvel has confirmed the end of the Disney+ series, but it hasn’t announced that any of its characters are being retired from the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Cancels Born Again
Daredevil: Born Again will conclude with its third season, scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2027. The decision is a notable shift for a show that once appeared positioned for an ongoing, potentially annual release schedule.
The news arrived alongside the departure of showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract was not renewed. His exit comes roughly two months after Season 3 wrapped filming, with post-production still underway. Marvel has not said who will oversee the remaining work.

About Daredevil: Born Again
Scardapane’s departure stands out given how central he was to reshaping the show. Born Again was originally ordered for 18 episodes, with Matt Corman and Chris Ord as head writers, and early plans reportedly leaned toward a more procedural format rather than a direct continuation of Netflix’s storylines.
After Marvel reassessed the project during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, Corman and Ord exited. Scardapane, who previously worked on Netflix’s The Punisher, was brought in alongside directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The team rewrote large portions of the story, filmed a new pilot and additional episodes, and steered the show closer to the tone of the original series.

That reset brought back familiar faces. Woll returned as Karen, Elden Henson reprised Foggy Nelson, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle was restored after the actor raised concerns about the character’s original portrayal, and Ayelet Zurer returned as Vanessa Fisk after initially being recast.
The reworked first season premiered in 2025, reuniting Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, and Season 2 followed in 2026.
Filming on Season 3 has finished, and the final run is expected to deliver a last confrontation between Daredevil and Kingpin. However, Matt Murdock has already appeared in projects outside Born Again, and Fisk has become an increasingly important figure in Marvel’s street-level storytelling. Ending the show doesn’t rule out either character, or Karen, turning up elsewhere.
