A new Spider-Man project has been announced in which Peter Parker and Miles Morales go head-to-head.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) gave the struggling Marvel Cinematic Universe a much-needed bump this summer, with Destin Daniel Cretton’s movie netting over $2.5 billion at the global box office and breaking records on both the highest-grossing movies of all time and highest-grossing domestic releases lists. For the latter, it surpassed J. J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII–The Force Awakens (2015) to become number one in the ranking.
Starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Brand New Day saw the arrival of the X-Men mutant characters into the MCU proper, with Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey being a central part of this fourth Spidey entry. While there is no confirmation of whether audiences will encounter these characters in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), it is clear that Sink’s future in the franchise will be incredibly important and pave the way for what is to come.

At this year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige introduced more of the X-Men movie cast, which included Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe/Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury. Jake Schreier, who directed 2025’s Thunderbolts*, will direct the upcoming mutant-centric movie.
As for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, rumors continue to swirl about his next appearance in the MCU, with many believing he must play a part in the upcoming Avengers two-parter from the Russo Brothers. Only time will tell on that front, but while audiences await Holland’s return, more Spider-Man projects are on the way–and one that pits Peter Parker against Miles Morales.

Marvel Confirms Multiple New Stories for Spider-Man Fans
Marvel Comics has mapped out its web-slinging future, and it looks like 2027 will belong to Spider-Man and his Multiverse of allies.
At New York Comic Con on Saturday, the publisher used its “Marvel Comics: The Spider-Web” panel to announce a full slate of Spider-titles, including solo series for Spider-Punk and Spider-Man: Noir, a new anthology called “Marvel SFX: Thwip,” and a crossover event that could see Peter Parker and Miles Morales turn on each other.
Hobie Brown returns first in January. Writer Cody Ziglar and artist Justin Mason reunite for “Spider-Punk #1,” with Taurin Clarke on covers. The story follows Hobie as he hunts for his missing bandmates, only to run into a new foe named Mz. Negative along the way.

February brings a fresh “Spider-Man: Noir” run from writer Alex Segura and artist Farid Karami. This time, Peter is dragged into a case involving a mysterious underworld artifact, his new girlfriend’s ex, and Venom Noir. Meanwhile, “Marvel SFX: Thwip” will showcase stories from Jed MacKay, Stephen Graham Jones, and Rainbow Rowell, with more creators lined up for future issues.
And then there is “Crisis of Faith” from Bryan Hill (“Miles Morales: Spider-Man”) and Joe Kelly (“Amazing Spider-Man”). Both of these writers have worked with Peter Parker and Miles Morales before, making this crossover even more intriguing.
“Since Miles and Peter first met in Spider-Men way back in 2012, they’ve been each other’s support system. Everything changes in April,” editor Nick Lowe said (via Comic Book Movie). “Peter has been getting more and more risky with his choices since Hellgate punched him into space. Some of those will get uncovered, and Miles is not pleased.”

But there isn’t just one-sided friction in this upcoming story. “…Miles has been keeping some strange and questionable company of late that Peter does not approve of,” Lowe continued. “That, however, is just the tip of the iceberg, and Joe Kelly and Bryan Edward Hill are cooking up some magic on this crossover!”
Thanks to Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films, which turned Miles into one of Marvel’s most popular heroes, more and more audiences are coming face-to-face with Spider-Man Variants. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) set a Sony animation record with just over $690 million worldwide.
The trilogy’s finale is now firmly on the calendar. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was pushed back three weeks, from June 4 to June 25, 2027, before being moved up to June 18, 2027. The new date lines up with Father’s Day weekend.

That makes the “Crisis of Faith” crossover from Bryan Hill and Joe Kelly, also slated for 2027, perfectly placed. Teased with a striking Ryan Stegman image, the event promises to shake the trust between the two Spider-Men, with more details coming in the months ahead.
