One of the most mellow attractions at Disneyland Resort turned into a near-nightmare for a family when a projectile suddenly plummeted from overhead. The incident occurred during the outdoor portion of “it’s a small world,” and the object fell from the bridge above the boat ride known as the Happiest Cruise on Earth.
Falling Object on “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Park

Earlier this year, Jennifer Tzi, who runs a family-oriented travel blog called Multigenerational Family Travel (@multigenerationalfamily_travel on Instagram), visited Disneyland Resort with her children. During what should’ve been a calm ride on “it’s a small world,” a cell phone fell from the bridge above the outdoor portion of the ride, nearly missing her daughter’s head.
In a video posted on April 26, Tzi described the moment as a scene out of the Final Destination (2000) film franchise.

“We were on ‘it’s a small world’ just enjoying the ride when suddenly a phone came flying down from above and almost hit my child,” Tzi wrote. “Went from singing along to a full-on Final Destination moment real quick.”

Luckily, the phone missed the little girl, and she wasn’t injured. But it’s unlikely that the stranger’s cell phone survived the fall into the “it’s a small world” ride water.
Tzi took the opportunity to remind others to secure their cell phones not just while on Disney Parks rides, but when walking around them.

“PSA: secure your phones, please 🙏,” the Disneyland Park guest wrote. “This ride didn’t need a plot twist 😅.”
Disney Parks Fans Respond
The video amassed over 17,000 likes and even more views. Although the situation was alarming for the family, some commenters accused Tzi of exaggerating it.

“Wow I feel bad for the person who lost [their] phone,” @karlee_elaine28 commented. “That was not a final destination scene.”
“Final destination scene’ and the worst outcome is a headache,” @robotic_jay replied.
Still, others placed the blame squarely on the guest who dropped their phone from the bridge above “it’s a small world” and validated Tzi’s fear for her daughter.

“I was hit in the head with some kind of ball on a roller coaster, it was pretty painful…” said @mrsdaniellecraig.
“Someone spit on us from the top of space mountain and we were just strapped in!” @billingtonsbride wrote. “We told the worker and they said the would look to see who did it and kick them out! It was gross!”
