When a ride stops at Walt Disney World Resort, the last thing most guests would assume is that it was their fault. One family recently shared their live reaction when they realized that one of their party members caused a temporary shutdown of Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Guest Causes Kali River Rapids Ride Stop

Sure, when someone does something completely unpredictable, like the guest who jumped out of Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros at EPCOT this week, it’s easy to assign blame. But when you’re the one to break a rule unknowingly, you might not assume that you’re the reason a Disney Parks attraction had to stop.
Instagram user @familiafamaniafamily recently shared a video taken on Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The man happened to be recording after the ride stopped, curious about what had caused the operational pause, when a Disney cast member arrived and asked his wife to remove any items she had stowed behind her back.
You’re stuck on Kali River Rapids thinking the ride malfunctioned… only to find out your wife was the reason the whole ride stopped. 🤦🏻😂🌊 #KaliRiverRapids #Disney #RideStopped #MarriageMoments #POV @j.famania12 @jaxielfamania21 @ezekielfamania.skateboarder @disneysanimalkingdom

“Hi, my love, do you have something back behind you?” the Disney cast member asked after climbing a set of emergency evacuation stairs on the hill that takes guests to the main Kali River Rapids ride path.
“Really?” the woman replied before removing multiple cell phones from behind her back. “Oh, my god. Sorry.”

The Disney cast member instructed the guest to tug on her seat belt to make sure it was buckled before walking away and allowing the ride to resume. Other guests on board the raft cheered and clapped.
“She needs to get wet now,” the man filming joked. “Let her get soaked.”
How to Avoid This Situation

Guests who are worried about their belongings getting wet are encouraged to stow them in free storage lockers located near the entrance to Kali River Rapids in the Asia area at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. To keep everyone safe, always follow posted and verbal instructions from Disney cast members when boarding any attraction.
