Another Universal Studios Florida attraction is about to go dark, and this closure comes with more questions than answers.

Universal Orlando has confirmed that a popular experience inside DreamWorks Land will temporarily close beginning October 3. That alone might not seem particularly unusual. Theme park attractions regularly need maintenance, especially experiences with interactive technology.

What makes this one more interesting is how recently Universal already took the attraction offline for an extended refurbishment.

Just a few months after reopening, guests are about to lose it again. Even more concerning, Universal hasn’t provided a reopening date this time.

Po Live! Is Closing Again

Po Live! at Universal Studios Florida will temporarily close beginning October 3, according to Universal Orlando’s official refurbishment calendar.

Universal currently lists the closure simply as “Starting October 3, 2026,” with no end date attached. That means guests visiting DreamWorks Land after October 2 shouldn’t count on the experience being available.

Po Live! is an interactive experience tucked inside the Kung Fu Panda portion of DreamWorks Land. Rather than simply watching a prerecorded show, guests can interact with Po through a digital animated screen.

Po talks with the audience, teaches kung fu moves and attempts to juggle several other responsibilities along the way. Universal describes the attraction as particularly suited for younger children and tweens.

It’s one of several family-focused offerings that helped transform the former Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone into DreamWorks Land when the area opened in 2024.

Now, however, Po is preparing for another break.

And this one comes surprisingly soon after his last one.

Universal Just Refurbished This Attraction

This isn’t Po Live!’s first lengthy closure of 2026.

Universal closed Po Live! alongside Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp on May 18 for a refurbishment that stretched through early July. The area was scheduled to return in time for the July 4 holiday weekend.

That amounted to roughly a month and a half of downtime during one of Universal Orlando Resort’s busiest stretches of the year.

At the time, it appeared Universal was using the extended closure to address the Kung Fu Panda section as a whole. Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp includes several interactive and water-based elements, while Po Live! relies on technology to allow guests to communicate with the animated character.

Now, only about three months after that refurbishment ended, Po Live! is heading right back onto Universal’s closure calendar.

Universal’s official schedule doesn’t explain why another closure is necessary or indicate exactly what work will take place.

More importantly for guests, there’s currently no reopening date.

That’s a noticeable difference from the summer project. Universal gave guests a defined window for that refurbishment, making it relatively easy for families to determine whether the attraction would be available during their vacations.

This time, Universal is only saying the closure begins October 3.

DreamWorks Land Has Already Seen Other Changes

Po Live!’s second closure also comes as DreamWorks Land continues to evolve just over two years after opening.

Not everything guests saw when the land debuted has remained intact.

One of the most noticeable changes involves the Shrek section.

The area originally included sprinklers that gave children another opportunity to cool off and play with water. Those elements are no longer operating as they originally did. Universal has paved over the former sprinkler area, leaving a cemented space where the water features once existed.

It’s another example of how Universal has continued adjusting DreamWorks Land since its debut.

The Kung Fu Panda area has experienced changes of its own.

Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp previously dealt with multiple effects that weren’t operating as intended. The area’s large water bucket, for example, returned earlier in 2026 after being out of operation for an extended period. Other props and effects had also disappeared or stopped working after the land opened.

None of that necessarily means Po Live!’s upcoming closure is connected to those earlier issues. Universal hasn’t announced a reason for the October shutdown.

Still, the timing makes the closure difficult to ignore.

DreamWorks Land isn’t an aging corner of Universal Studios Florida that’s been operating unchanged for decades. It’s one of the park’s newer areas, and Po Live! already spent a significant portion of this summer unavailable.

Now it’s closing again.

Families Will Lose One of DreamWorks Land’s Interactive Experiences

The good news is that DreamWorks Land itself isn’t closing.

Universal still lists several other experiences throughout the area, including Trolls Trollercoaster, Poppy’s Playground, King Harold’s Swamp Symphony and Shrek’s Swamp Meet. DreamWorks Imagination Celebration also gives families another entertainment option.

However, Po Live! fills a somewhat different role.

It’s an interactive attraction rather than a traditional ride, playground or character meet-and-greet. Kids can actually communicate with Po as he responds to guests during the experience.

That makes its absence more noticeable for families looking for things younger children can do together.

The closure also arrives during a busy fall period at Universal Studios Florida. Halloween Horror Nights continues on select nights, bringing heavy crowds to Universal Orlando Resort while dramatically changing the operating schedule at Universal Studios Florida.

Families visiting during the daytime will still have plenty to do inside DreamWorks Land, but they’ll have one fewer attraction available beginning October 3.

The Biggest Question Is How Long Po Will Be Gone

For now, the most important detail is also the one Universal hasn’t provided.

When will Po Live! reopen?

Universal’s refurbishment calendar gives specific ending dates for several other projects. Jurassic Park River Adventure, for example, is currently listed as closed through November 19. Other upcoming refurbishments also have defined windows.

Po Live! doesn’t.

Universal simply lists the attraction as temporarily closed starting October 3.

That could mean Universal hasn’t finalized the length of the project, or the company simply isn’t ready to announce when guests can expect Po to return. Without additional information from Universal, anything beyond that would be speculation.

What we do know is that Po Live! is facing its second significant closure of 2026.

After spending roughly six weeks unavailable during the summer, the attraction returned in early July and operated through the following months. Now, less than three months later, Universal is preparing to shut it down again.

Combined with the changes already made elsewhere in DreamWorks Land, the closure shows Universal is still making adjustments to one of Universal Studios Florida’s newest areas.

Guests visiting before October 3 still have a chance to experience Po Live! before the temporary shutdown begins.

Anyone arriving after that date, however, will have to wait.

And unlike the last refurbishment, Universal hasn’t said how long that wait will be.
