Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns to Magic Kingdom beginning November 8, bringing another season of holiday entertainment, special treats, character appearances and after-hours access to the park.
Normally, by this point in September, Disney would already have at least one sold-out party on the calendar.
That hasn’t happened in 2026.
As of September 22, Disney still has tickets available for every one of the 25 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates scheduled this year. That puts ticket sales noticeably behind the pace Disney saw during the previous two Christmas seasons.
It doesn’t necessarily mean the parties won’t eventually sell out. Recent history suggests plenty of dates could still disappear before December. But right now, guests simply aren’t buying Christmas party tickets as quickly as they have in the past.
Disney World Hasn’t Sold Out a Single Christmas Party Yet
The biggest number to watch right now is 25.
Disney has 25 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party dates scheduled for 2026, and all 25 remain available as of September 22.
That might not sound unusual with the first party still more than a month away, but comparing 2026 with the previous two years paints a different picture.
In 2025, the November 7 opening-night party sold out on September 10. The November 10 party followed on September 24, while the December 21 finale sold out one day later.
By November 3, every November party was sold out. Only one date remained available by November 15, and Disney officially sold out the entire 2025 season on November 19.
The 2024 season started selling out even earlier.
Opening night, which took place November 8 that year, sold out on September 3. More dates disappeared throughout October and November before the entire season finally sold out on November 30.
That makes September 22 an interesting checkpoint for 2026.
Disney is now 12 days beyond the point when opening night sold out last year and 19 days beyond the first sellout of 2024.
Yet every party remains on sale.
Are Disney World’s Christmas Crowds Changing?
There is an important distinction here.
Available Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets don’t automatically mean Walt Disney World will have a slow Christmas season overall.
The party represents one specific, separately ticketed event at Magic Kingdom. Disney could still see large crowds throughout November and December, particularly around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.
But the slower pace does tell us something about demand for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party itself.
Guests simply have more flexibility right now than they did at the same point during the previous two years.
Someone planning a Christmas trip in late September 2024 or 2025 already had to consider sold-out dates. In 2026, guests still have the entire calendar available.
That’s a meaningful shift, particularly after what happened with Disney’s Halloween season.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party completely sold out its 2026 season before Disney recorded its first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party sellout.
For Disney fans trying to determine where demand is strongest, that contrast is worth watching.
Christmas Party Tickets Could Still Start Disappearing Quickly
None of this means Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is headed toward an empty holiday season.
Quite the opposite could still happen.
Looking at previous years, Disney has typically seen sales accelerate as the first party gets closer. Once opening night disappears, additional November dates can begin falling quickly.
The full-season sellout dates also show just how much can change in a relatively short period.
The 2023 season completely sold out by November 29. Disney reached a complete sellout on November 30 in 2024 before accelerating significantly in 2025, when every party was gone by November 19.
So, even with zero sellouts on September 22, there is still plenty of time for the 2026 calendar to tighten.
Opening night on November 8 will be particularly interesting.
Opening night has been one of the first dates to disappear in recent years, making it an early indicator of demand. If that party remains available deep into October, the slowdown will become considerably more notable.
For now, though, Disney is simply running behind its recent Christmas party sales pace.
Guests Have Something They Haven’t Had Recently: Options
There is at least one clear benefit for guests.
Choice.
Instead of planning around a growing collection of unavailable dates, families still have the ability to select from all 25 parties.
That could be particularly valuable for travelers trying to coordinate their Magic Kingdom party with dining reservations, resort stays and other holiday plans.
It also takes away some of the immediate pressure that surrounded the event during recent seasons.
Disney fans have become accustomed to hearing about special-event sellouts months before the event actually begins. In 2024, that happened in early September. It happened again by September 10 last year.
September 22 has now arrived without a single 2026 Christmas party joining that list.
That doesn’t guarantee tickets will remain available for long. Once the first date sells out, others could follow rapidly, especially as attention shifts completely away from Halloween and toward Christmas.
But the numbers are what they are right now.
Walt Disney World has reached late September with every Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party date still available, something that did not happen in either of the previous two seasons.
For guests, that means more choices.
For Disney, it means the 2026 Christmas party season is starting with a noticeably slower sales pace than we’ve seen recently.
