The clock is officially ticking on one of the oldest attractions at Universal Orlando Resort.

Animal Actors On Location! has entertained guests at Universal Studios Florida since the theme park opened in 1990. After more than three decades of performances, Universal has confirmed that the live show will permanently close this fall.

Its final performances are scheduled for November 2, 2026. Beginning November 3, Animal Actors On Location! will no longer be part of the Universal Studios Florida lineup.

That gives longtime fans only a matter of weeks to see the show again. However, guests hoping for one final visit should also pay close attention to the schedule.

The attraction is already operating with relatively limited hours, and Halloween Horror Nights makes the situation more complicated during its final stretch.

Universal Is Permanently Closing Animal Actors On Location!

Universal confirmed the upcoming closure in September, putting an expiration date on an attraction that has existed for the entire history of Universal Studios Florida.

Animal Actors On Location! traces its history to June 7, 1990, when Universal Studios Florida first opened. The original version debuted as Animal Actors Stage before eventually becoming Animal Planet Live in 2001. The attraction later took on its current Animal Actors On Location! name.

Through its different versions, the basic idea remained familiar. Trained animals performed tricks, comedy bits, movie-style stunts, and other routines alongside their trainers.

Universal has now decided that the theater’s next chapter will involve something different.

“The Animal Actors On Location! show at Universal Studios Florida will permanently close on November 2 to make way for a new experience,” Universal said in its announcement.

The company has not revealed exactly what that new experience will be.

That leaves a major question hanging over the theater space near Springfield as Animal Actors On Location! approaches its final performances.

The Final Weeks Could Feel Even Shorter

While November 2 is the official final performance date, guests shouldn’t assume they can simply arrive at Universal Studios Florida at any point during the day and catch the show.

Animal Actors On Location! has traditionally stopped performing before the theme park itself closes. Unlike a ride that operates throughout the day, guests have to plan around specific performance times.

That becomes particularly important during Halloween Horror Nights season.

Universal Studios Florida closes to regular daytime guests at 5 p.m. on Halloween Horror Nights dates before preparing for the separately ticketed event.

Those shorter daytime operating hours can affect how much entertainment Universal can fit into the schedule.

Animal Actors has always wrapped up relatively early compared to the park itself, but Halloween Horror Nights can make the schedule even tighter. On some days, that could mean one fewer performance than guests might otherwise encounter.

There’s also little reason to expect Universal to suddenly expand the attraction’s hours as the final performance approaches.

Even on days without Halloween Horror Nights, guests shouldn’t necessarily expect Animal Actors On Location! to start offering later performances simply because the attraction is nearing its permanent closure.

Anyone making a special trip to see the show one final time should check the day’s entertainment schedule rather than assuming there will be another performance later.

Halloween Horror Nights Complicates the Countdown

The timing of the closure means nearly the entire remaining run overlaps with one of Universal Studios Florida’s biggest seasonal events.

Halloween Horror Nights continues on select nights through November 1. Animal Actors On Location! then permanently closes after its November 2 performances.

That creates an unusual final stretch for a 36-year-old Universal attraction.

Rather than spending its final weeks operating under a typical schedule, Animal Actors will finish its run while Universal Studios Florida balances regular daytime operations with Halloween Horror Nights.

On event nights, the 5 p.m. daytime closure creates a firm stopping point for normal park operations.

For guests who have been putting off one final visit to Animal Actors On Location!, that makes planning more important.

November 2 may be the official deadline, but there aren’t unlimited opportunities between now and then.

Universal Studios Florida Is Losing Another Piece of 1990

Animal Actors On Location! isn’t simply another show leaving Universal Orlando.

It represents another connection to the original version of Universal Studios Florida disappearing.

When the park opened on June 7, 1990, Animal Actors was part of the opening-day lineup. Thirty-six years later, the attraction has survived enormous changes around it.

Universal Studios Florida has added new lands, replaced attractions, removed entire areas, and shifted away from much of the working movie-studio concept that originally defined the park.

Animal Actors survived through all of it.

Its departure now means another piece of the original Universal Studios Florida will disappear permanently.

That comes during a period of particularly significant change at the park.

Fast & Furious – Supercharged permanently closed in August 2026, while Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show remains unavailable as Universal works on a reimagined version of the opening-day attraction.

Universal is clearly willing to make major changes to its oldest park even as attention remains heavily focused on Epic Universe.

What Will Replace Animal Actors On Location!?

For now, Universal isn’t saying.

The Animal Actors theater sits near Springfield, U.S.A., giving Universal an interesting piece of real estate to work with as it continues updating Universal Studios Florida.

Universal has only confirmed that the attraction is closing to “make way for a new experience.”

The company hasn’t announced what that experience will be, when it could open, or how much of the existing theater will remain.

Until Universal reveals those plans, attention will remain on the attraction that’s already there.

After 36 years, Animal Actors On Location! has only a matter of weeks remaining at Universal Studios Florida.

The final performance is set for November 2, but Halloween Horror Nights means the attraction will spend much of its remaining run dealing with shortened park days and potentially limited showtimes.

For anyone hoping to see Animal Actors On Location! one last time, the countdown isn’t just underway.

The opportunities to catch a final performance may already be getting smaller.
