For months, guests walking along the waterfront have watched one of the resort’s longtime entertainment locations transform into something completely new. Construction barriers went up, windows disappeared behind coverings, and the former home of Jellyrolls slowly started losing its old identity.
Now, there’s no mistaking what is taking over.
The permanent Hurly-Burly sign has officially gone up on the former Jellyrolls building, and it’s already illuminated. With the new venue scheduled to open October 1, 2026, the latest addition makes it clear that Disney is getting close to welcoming guests inside.
There’s still some work happening around the building, but from the outside, Hurly-Burly is finally starting to look ready for its debut.
Hurly-Burly Sign Lights Up Disney’s BoardWalk
The most noticeable change is impossible to miss.
Large letters spelling “HURLY-BURLY” now sit across the curved corner of the building. Crews haven’t simply installed the marquee, either. The sign is already illuminated, giving guests their first real look at how the venue will appear once it begins operating at night.
The lettering sits against a teal exterior that has dramatically changed the appearance of the former Jellyrolls location.
Red awnings have also been installed above the main entrance and the large walk-up window facing the BoardWalk promenade. Combined with the marquee, those additions make the exterior look considerably closer to a finished venue than an active construction project.
The transformation is especially noticeable from across Crescent Lake, where the illuminated Hurly-Burly sign now stands out along the BoardWalk.
It’s a relatively simple addition compared to everything that has happened inside and outside the building, but seeing the venue’s actual name glowing above the entrance makes the change feel much more permanent.
Jellyrolls is gone, and its replacement is almost ready.
Jellyrolls Is Giving Way to a Completely Different Experience
For longtime Walt Disney World guests, the building carries plenty of history.
Jellyrolls spent years as one of the most recognizable nightlife destinations at Disney’s BoardWalk. The dueling piano bar offered adults an entertainment option outside the theme parks and became closely associated with nighttime around the resort.
Hurly-Burly will take the location in another direction.
Instead of operating exclusively as a traditional nighttime entertainment venue, the new location will change throughout the day.
During the afternoon, Hurly-Burly will offer a family-friendly environment featuring trivia and games. That opens the former Jellyrolls space to an audience that previously may not have had much reason to step inside.
Then everything changes at night.
Beginning at 9 p.m., Hurly-Burly will transition into a 21-and-over live music lounge.
That means families will be able to enjoy the venue earlier in the day before it becomes an adults-only destination later in the evening.
It’s an interesting approach for Disney, particularly considering the history of the location.
Hurly-Burly isn’t trying to recreate Jellyrolls. Instead, Disney is giving the building a new identity while keeping live entertainment as part of the nighttime experience.
October 1 Is Almost Here
Guests won’t have to wait much longer to see how the concept works.
Hurly-Burly is currently scheduled to open October 1, 2026, putting its debut just a couple of weeks away.
The arrival of the illuminated marquee makes that date feel much closer.
Construction barriers remain along the promenade in front of the building, and the windows are still covered. Guests walking past the location can’t yet see what the completed interior will look like.
Crews still have time to finish those final details before opening day.
From the outside, though, the transformation appears to have entered its final stage.
The teal facade is in place. Red awnings now cover portions of the exterior. The permanent signage has arrived, and the marquee is already glowing.
Instead of looking like a construction project taking over Jellyrolls, the building finally looks like Hurly-Burly.
The BoardWalk Is Getting a New Look
The exterior design also makes sense for its location.
Disney’s BoardWalk has always relied heavily on atmosphere. Restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, and hotel buildings line the waterfront, creating an environment inspired by turn-of-the-century seaside destinations.
Hurly-Burly appears designed to become another noticeable piece of that setting.
Its teal exterior immediately separates it from what guests remember from Jellyrolls. The bright marquee adds another visual element, particularly after sunset, while the red awnings bring more detail to the waterfront-facing portion of the building.
Guests can see the exterior from several points around the BoardWalk and from across Crescent Lake.
That nighttime visibility could become especially important once Hurly-Burly begins operating.
The venue will spend part of the afternoon catering to families, but its nighttime transformation will likely give the illuminated marquee even more purpose. Once 9 p.m. arrives, the building will switch over to its adults-only live music format.
In other words, the lights going on outside will match the change happening inside.
This Won’t Simply Be Jellyrolls 2.0
Anyone hoping Disney would simply recreate Jellyrolls under another name should expect something different.
Hurly-Burly is taking pieces of the nightlife concept and combining them with a broader daytime experience.
That could make the venue accessible to far more BoardWalk visitors.
Families spending an afternoon around Crescent Lake will have the opportunity to participate in trivia and games. They won’t need to wait until late at night to experience the space.
Adults will then get a different version of Hurly-Burly beginning at 9 p.m.
The live music component gives the location some connection to its entertainment-heavy past without simply copying what came before.
That distinction will become much clearer once guests actually get inside.
For now, most of the interior remains hidden. The covered windows mean Disney still has a surprise waiting for visitors when Hurly-Burly officially opens.
Some Construction Remains
Despite the finished appearance of the facade, the project isn’t completely wrapped up.
Construction barriers remain outside the building, and the covered windows continue to prevent guests from getting a clear look inside.
That leaves a little mystery surrounding what visitors will find on October 1.
However, installing the permanent marquee represents an important step.
Exterior signage is often one of those finishing touches that makes a project suddenly feel much closer to completion. In this case, Disney has gone one step further by already lighting the sign.
Guests walking the BoardWalk at night can now see the Hurly-Burly name glowing on a building that they once associated with Jellyrolls.
That’s a significant visual change for longtime visitors.
A New Era Begins October 1
Assuming Disney sticks with the announced schedule, Hurly-Burly will officially begin welcoming guests on October 1.
During the afternoon, families can expect trivia, games, and a more casual entertainment experience.
