The familiar Universal globe outside Universal Studios Florida has taken on a far more sinister look just as Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 35 begins. The landmark, normally defined by its blue oceans, green landmasses, and bright UNIVERSAL lettering, is now glowing red at the entrance to Universal Orlando Resort.

The transformation was documented by theme-park photographer bioreconstruct on August 28, opening day for the regular HHN 35 season. Before guests even reach the turnstiles, Universal’s gateway now looks as though Halloween Horror Nights has consumed it.
Universal Globe Turns Red as Halloween Horror Nights 35 Begins
The red globe gives Universal Studios Florida an immediate after-dark identity. Rather than limiting the event’s atmosphere to the haunted houses and scare zones, the visual takeover begins outside the park.
Universal’s official Halloween Horror Nights information lists the event for select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026, with 10 haunted houses, scare zones, and live entertainment. Universal also held its first Premium Scream Night on August 27, one night before the regular season opened.
The globe change arrives alongside other visible work around the front of Universal Studios Florida. Together, the entrance work and new lighting make the approach to the park noticeably different from a normal Universal Studios Florida arrival.
HHN 35 Turns Universal Studios Florida Into an Infernal Carnival
The blood-red appearance also fits the creative direction Universal has officially established for this year’s anniversary event.
Universal Orlando describes HHN 35 as the “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares,” with Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow serving as rival ringmasters. The two returning icons anchor Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, an original haunted house built around their history, rivalry, and competing forces of chaos and control.
That pairing is not a rumor. Universal announced Jack and Oddfellow’s return in March and has since released additional details about their shared house. Inside the Magic covered the first HHN 35 house announcement when the two icons were revealed as central figures in the anniversary year.
Universal’s official 2026 Halloween Horror Nights overview says the event includes 10 all-new haunted houses along with scare zones, entertainment, themed food and beverages, and other surprises. The lineup mixes Universal-created stories with recognizable horror properties.
The Entrance Is Becoming Part of the Horror
The red treatment stands out because the landmark is so familiar. Guests see the spinning globe before entering Universal Studios Florida, making it one of the first visual markers of a visit.
Now that same icon has been folded into the Halloween presentation.
It also follows a broader makeover at the front gate. The Universal Studios Florida archway has been undergoing visible work ahead of the event, while HHN imagery has increasingly taken over the entrance area. Until Universal confirms those changes or they appear at the resort, they should be treated as rumor rather than part of the official HHN 35 program.

Halloween Horror Nights 35 officially runs on select nights through November 1 at Universal Studios Florida. Universal’s event page confirms that HHN is separately ticketed and warns that the experience may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for children under 13.
