When hosted at Magic Kingdom, this perk is a vacation game-changer, granting visitors walk-on access to over a dozen marquee attractions. However, a recent schedule update reveals a massive shift coming this fall—one that drastically slashes the value of this high-end hotel benefit.
As Walt Disney World enters its incredibly busy Halloween season, the Extended Evening Hours perk is being pushed out of Magic Kingdom and relocated to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The result? Deluxe Resort guests are seeing their exclusive nighttime ride lineup plummet from over a dozen attractions down to just four.

The Big Shift: Moving to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
According to Disney’s recently updated park hours, Extended Evening Hours will officially shift to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. During this specific date, the exclusive after-hours window will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
This October date joins two other previously announced late-summer Wednesday shifts to Animal Kingdom on August 26 and September 2.
The primary reason for this relocation is entirely logistical. During the fall, Magic Kingdom closes early to daytime guests several nights a week to host the separately ticketed Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Because Magic Kingdom is actively pushing non-party guests out of the gates by 6:00 p.m., Disney cannot simultaneously host a two-hour Extended Evening block for its Deluxe Resort guests.
To compensate for the lack of availability at Magic Kingdom, Disney opts to move the perk to other parks. While Disney’s Hollywood Studios will absorb several of these dates in late September and early October, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is stepping in to take the October 20 slot. Unfortunately for guests, Animal Kingdom is the absolute worst park to host this specific perk.
A Massive Downgrade: Over a Dozen Rides Cut Down to Four
The sheer value of Extended Evening Hours entirely depends on which park is hosting it.
When Magic Kingdom hosts the event, it is arguably the best two hours you can spend at Walt Disney World. Because Magic Kingdom boasts the highest attraction density of any Disney park globally, Deluxe guests have their pick of more than 15 operating rides. You can easily bounce from Space Mountain to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, hit Peter Pan’s Flight, and still have time for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Haunted Mansion.
When the perk moves to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, that massive itinerary evaporates. During the 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. extended window at Animal Kingdom on October 20, only four attractions are scheduled to operate:
- Avatar Flight of Passage
- Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
- Na’vi River Journey
- Zootopia: Better Zoogether!
While Avatar Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest are undeniably spectacular, E-ticket attractions, offering a total of just four rides for an exclusive resort perk is a tough pill to swallow. Disney has noted that select food, beverage, and merchandise locations will also remain open during the extended window. Still, shopping and snacking hardly justify the exorbitant nightly rates of a Deluxe Resort room.
For families paying upward of $700 to $1,000 per night at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, trading a 15-ride Magic Kingdom night for a 4-ride Animal Kingdom evening drastically hurts the return on investment. If you are not a fan of intense roller coasters (Expedition Everest) or screen-based simulators (Flight of Passage), you are left with virtually nothing to do except ride a slow-moving boat (Na’vi River Journey) or watch a show (Zootopia).
Who Qualifies for Extended Evening Hours?
Despite the temporary limitations in the attraction lineup, Extended Evening Hours remains a highly exclusive perk. The benefit is only available to registered guests staying at the following premium hotel tiers:
- Disney Deluxe Resorts
- Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts (Disney Vacation Club)
- Select Partner Hotels: The Walt Disney World Swan, Walt Disney World Dolphin, Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, and Shades of Green.
Guests staying at Disney’s Value Resorts (like Pop Century or the All-Star resorts) and Moderate Resorts (like Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs) are strictly excluded from this nighttime event.
