The first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is here. After months of announcements, showtime confirmations, ticket sellouts, and the annual debate about whether Halloween should start while it is still 95 degrees outside, Magic Kingdom finally turns over to the party tonight.
Opening night always carries a particular energy. Costumes on Main Street, U.S.A., Trick-or-treat trails are going live for the first time this season. The first Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade of the season. And this year, two brand new entertainment offerings are making their debut, which means nobody in the park tonight knows exactly what to expect.
One of those is in Adventureland, and Disney has just released more details about it right as the gates open.

What Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash Actually Is At Magic Kingdom
Disney has officially named the new Adventureland pirate offering Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash.
The premise is a recruitment mission. Disney says Captain Jack Sparrow has come to port to recruit new crew members and teach them how to be pirates, describing the experience as a “gallant quest.”
That quest includes a salty pirate band, daring jugglers, and sailor superstitions worked into the performance.
Crucially, Disney frames this as an interactive experience rather than a stage show. Guests learn pirate customs alongside the character instead of watching from a distance. Expect pirate music, comedy, and audience participation throughout.
The offering takes place in Adventureland, outside Tortuga Tavern.
The Pirate Band Question
Here is the detail longtime party guests have been trying to pin down.
Adventureland has hosted the Rusty Cutlass pirate band during previous Halloween parties, and it became a fixture in that area. When Disney first teased the new Captain Jack offering back in June, the announcement gave no name or format, leaving open whether Rusty Cutlass would continue alongside the new experience or be replaced entirely.
Disney’s new description mentions a “salty pirate band” but does not name Rusty Cutlass.
Whether that means the same performers under a new banner or an entirely new group is not clear from the wording. What is clear is that there will be live pirate music in Adventureland tonight.
How the Showtimes Work
This is a practical change worth understanding before you plan your evening.
When the Rusty Cutlass Pirate Band was the Adventureland offering, it had proper showtimes listed in the My Disney Experience app. You could check a time and plan around it.
Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash instead has a showtime window of 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
That suggests the entertainment will be ongoing throughout the night with brief pauses rather than running on a fixed schedule. Practically, that means you do not need to build your night around catching it. Walk through Adventureland at some point, and you should find it happening.
That is a meaningful difference from something like the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, which runs at 9:05 p.m., 10:35 p.m., and midnight and requires actual planning.
The Other New Offering This Year
Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash is not the only debut tonight at Magic Kingdom.
Over in Tomorrowland, Stitch’s Masquerade Mashup is opening at the Rockettower Plaza Stage.
Like the pirate offering, it is built around participation rather than passive viewing. Stitch, Lilo, and Angel are searching for the perfect Halloween costume and need help deciding which look works best. The experience combines music, interactive games, video elements, dancing, costumes, and candy giveaways.
Both new offerings will operate throughout all 38 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates between August 7 and October 31. That is genuinely useful for anyone planning a trip weeks or months out, since there is no need to target a specific date to catch either one.

Eight party dates have already sold out. August 7, 11, 14, 18 and 21. September 4 and 8. October 9, 13, and 31.
Opening night tonight was among the first to reach capacity, and Halloween night itself has also sold out, which has become an annual pattern.

Because the Buccaneer Bash runs continuously rather than on set showtimes, treat it as something to fold into your Adventureland walk rather than a fixed appointment. Save the rigid planning for the parade, the Spelltacular, and the fireworks, all of which have specific times.
And since this is opening night, everything you see tonight is being performed for the first time. That is a genuinely fun thing to be present for, even if the first few performances of anything new tend to find their footing as the season goes on.
