‘Harry Potter’ Returning to Hogwarts…and Universal Orlando Resort?
Universal Orlando Resort is giving Harry Potter fans a month of limited-time experiences across its sprawling Wizarding World, just as another piece of Islands of Adventure’s original identity disappears next door.
From August 1 through September 1, 2026, Universal will celebrate Back to Hogwarts and the 25th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film with a collectible Butterbeer mug, themed food and merchandise, and Hogwarts Always at Islands of Adventure. The celebration reaches across Universal’s three Wizarding World locations, although the individual offerings are not available in every park.
That distinction matters for anyone planning a visit around the event—and for fans wondering whether Universal’s growing commitment to Harry Potter offers a clue about the land now being demolished beside Hogsmeade.
What Universal Orlando Is Offering From August 1
Universal’s Back to Hogwarts announcement identifies the 25th Anniversary Butterbeer Mug as one of the event’s principal collectibles. The souvenir comes with Butterbeer and will be sold only at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure while supplies last.
Universal has not published a price in its announcement. It also has not promised that the mug will remain available through September 1, making “while supplies last” particularly important for guests arriving later in the month.
Hogwarts House Ice Lollies will provide another park-specific offering. The treats are available at Eternelle’s Elixir of Refreshment in Diagon Alley and inside the Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe. Flavors correspond to the four houses: peach and strawberry for Gryffindor, pineapple and milk chocolate for Hufflepuff, coconut and matcha for Slytherin, and huckleberry and grape for Ravenclaw.
Universal will also sell a park-exclusive Wizarding World Build-A-Bag collection by Lug. Guests can combine different bags, straps, accessories, and charms, while second-generation interactive wands remain available across all three lands.
The event is therefore spread across the resort, but not in a way that makes every experience accessible with admission to one park.
Hogwarts Always Returns to Islands of Adventure
At Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle will once again become the backdrop for Hogwarts Always. The nighttime presentation uses projections, lighting, and music to follow a school year at Hogwarts, ending with one of the four houses winning the House Cup.
The show returned to Islands of Adventure in May for the summer season. Universal is now positioning it as a centerpiece of Back to Hogwarts, though guests should still consult the resort’s calendar or mobile app because nighttime entertainment can operate only on select dates and may be affected by weather or park hours.
For vacation planning, the geography is as consequential as the announcement. The anniversary mug and Hogwarts Always are available in the two original Universal Orlando parks, while the expanded ice-lolly selection reaches Epic Universe. Guests hoping to cover Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, and the Ministry of Magic must plan for admission across three separate theme parks.
Hogwarts Express travel between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley also requires eligible Park-to-Park admission. The train does not extend to Epic Universe.
‘Harry Potter’ Now Occupies Three Distinct Worlds
The scale of this celebration reflects how far the franchise has expanded since Hogsmeade opened at Islands of Adventure in 2010.
Diagon Alley followed at Universal Studios Florida in 2014. Epic Universe then introduced the Ministry of Magic in 2025, giving Universal Orlando a third Wizarding World land and two more headlining experiences: Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Le Cirque Arcanus.
That newest land has already faced the sort of operational adjustments expected of a heavily attended expansion. Inside the Magic previously reported on a temporary closure of Le Cirque Arcanus and unusually long waits for Battle at the Ministry.
The August event does not add another ride. Its importance is cumulative: Universal can now stage a franchise celebration that stretches from Hogsmeade to London, wizarding Paris, and the British Ministry across three gates.
The Lost Continent Rumor Still Has No Confirmation
That prominence inevitably makes the adjacent Lost Continent redevelopment more intriguing. Demolition is visible around portions of the original Islands of Adventure land, including areas near the former Sindbad theater and Poseidon’s Fury.
Universal has confirmed that the Lost Continent will close in phases for a new themed area. Mythos Restaurant is expected to remain open until 2027, but the company has not named the replacement.
Fans have proposed Harry Potter, The Legend of Zelda, and other properties. A Harry Potter expansion has an obvious geographic argument because the land borders Hogsmeade, and Universal previously converted part of the original Lost Continent into the first Wizarding World. That makes the theory understandable. It does not make it confirmed.
Current Lost Continent demolition work proves that Universal is clearing space for something new. The anniversary event proves that Harry Potter remains one of the resort’s most heavily supported franchises. Neither fact establishes what Universal will build on that land.
For now, the real development is substantial enough without a rumored Forbidden Forest ride: from August 1 to September 1, Harry Potter fans can follow the franchise across three Orlando parks. What rises beside Hogsmeade remains a separate story—and one Universal has yet to tell.
