Over the last few months, Walt Disney World Resort has been slowly replacing elements of the World Showcase Pavilions at EPCOT. The latest update impacts your next visit to the France EPCOT World Showcase Pavilion.
Replacement in the France World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT

On July 16, Blog Mickey reported that Walt Disney World Resort had installed solar-powered trash cans in the France World Showcase Pavilion at EPCOT. Unlike some previous additions to the Mexico and Morocco World Showcase Pavilions, these waste receptacles are lightly themed after the area they’ve been installed in, painted green with ornate detailing on the sides.
Like the solar-powered trash and recycling cans Walt Disney World Resort previously installed around EPCOT and Magic Kingdom Park, these new waste receptacles feature a hygienic foot pedal and a curved top with solar panels. The solar panels power an internal compactor that condenses waste, allowing custodial cast members to spend less time removing and replacing trash bags.
Everything Changes During Festival Season

What should be an uncontroversial, inconsequential update across the EPCOT World Showcase Lagoon is anything but for Disney Parks fans. Whether unintentionally or not, Walt Disney World Resort is removing countless impromptu dining tables from one of its busiest theme park corridors.
During annual festivals like the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, high-top tables for enjoying snacks and beverages from festival kiosks are in high demand. Instead of attempting to eat and walk, Disney Park guests often use flat-top trash cans to hold their food and drink. After all, Walt Disney World Resort is one of the most frequently cleaned places on earth.

It’s impossible to balance a food tray or a beverage cup on top of the new curved top of the solar-powered trash cans. With every traditional trash or recycling can that Walt Disney World Resort replaces, a dining table is about to be even harder to find during the next festival at EPCOT.
