In less than a month, two children have jumped from the top of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction at Disneyland Park. One of those guests was videoed falling more than 50 feet down the log flume ride’s iconic drop. Amid discussions about adding more safety measures to the former Splash Mountain, Disney has quietly updated one aspect of the attraction experience.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Attraction Update

Although the terrifying recent incidents occurred at Disneyland Resort, the latest update to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure debuted at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. Let’s take a look.
On July 13, WDWNT reported that Walt Disney World Resort had replaced the pressed penny machine near the gift shop at the exit of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom Park. The brand-new coin machine features a wood-paneled exterior that blends in with the surrounding aesthetic of Frontierland, and eight new designs.
Interestingly, none of these pressed pennies feature designs inspired by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. For $1 each or eight for $5, guests can choose from the following copper coin designs:
- Frontierland with Cowboy Mickey Mouse
- Frontierland with Cowpokes Stitch and Angel
- Frontierland with Cowboy Goofy
- Frontierland with Cowboys Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Donald Duck
- Toy Story (1995) with Jessie
- Toy Story with Stinky Pete
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with Mickey Mouse

Walt Disney World Resort has been slowly replacing its collectible coin machines, removing the classic hand-crank designs and replacing them with touchscreen controls. Most of these machines don’t actually require a penny–instead, guests can pay cash or card (card users must purchase all eight designs) and receive a pressed copper medallion provided by the machine.
