Following the completion of Cinderella Castle’s extensive repainting project earlier this summer, crews have now begun refurbishing and replacing the paint on the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage (per WDWNT)–the performance venue located directly in front of the iconic castle. The project marks the latest phase in Disney’s efforts to refresh the centerpiece of Magic Kingdom after a months-long overhaul restored the castle to a more classic-inspired appearance.

Earlier this year, Disney drained the castle moat to provide construction crews with access to the lower portions of Cinderella Castle. Throughout the refurbishment, guests watched as cranes, lifts, and scaffolding surrounded sections of the structure while Imagineers repainted everything from the tallest spires to the rockwork at the castle’s base.

The project introduced an updated color palette featuring soft gray stonework, cream accents, vibrant blue rooftops, and gold detailing, moving away from the rose-pink tones that debuted during Cinderella‘s 70th anniversary celebration in 2020 and continued through Disney World’s own 50th anniversary period. Disney said the refreshed look was designed to evoke the castle’s original appearance while enhancing its architectural details.

Although the majority of the repainting had been completed weeks earlier, one obvious reminder that work was still underway remained: the empty moat surrounding the castle.

Disney began refilling the waterway in early June, pumping millions of gallons of water back into the moat over several days. Once the process was complete, the iconic reflection of Cinderella Castle returned, officially bringing the landmark refurbishment to an end and restoring one of Magic Kingdom’s most recognizable views.

Now, however, construction signs have appeared once again—this time around the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage.

Rather than another large-scale castle refurbishment, Disney is repainting and refreshing the stage itself, which has seen years of daily use as the home of character performances, seasonal entertainment, and special event productions.

The work appears to be cosmetic in nature, with no indication that Disney is making structural changes to the stage. Instead, the project seems intended to ensure the performance area complements the castle following its extensive makeover.

For guests visiting Magic Kingdom, the refurbishment has only a limited impact. Pathways around the Central Plaza remain open, and Cinderella Castle continues to serve as the backdrop for daytime entertainment, nighttime spectaculars like Happily Ever After, and countless vacation photos.

With the moat once again filled and the castle itself restored, the stage refurbishment represents one of the final finishing touches to Disney’s latest refresh of Magic Kingdom’s most photographed location. Once complete, the entire castle complex—from its towering spires and surrounding moat to the forecourt stage where many of the park’s live performances take place—will have received a refreshed look for guests visiting Walt Disney World.
